CRYPTO ACADEMY WEEK 3 OF SEASON 2. HOMEWORK POST FOR @alphafx TOPIC: TRADING AND HODL

in SteemitCryptoAcademy3 years ago (edited)

Introduction

Holding and trading, as professor @alphafx said, are like two sides of a coin, below, i'd state which coin side i prefer over the other. let's dive into the main course shall we?.

QUESTION 1:

A. DO YOU HOLD ANY COINS?

well, I am currently hodling STEEM AND TRON at the moment in my steem wallet thanks to my blogging on the steemit platform as seen below.

But i would love to HODL some other coins in the future, as i have recently assessed through the lecture from @alphafx that it could be the best way to save your money, and still possibly receive percentage increases.
I'd really like to hold on to bitcoin and ethereum soon, because i think they are not as volatile as other coins.

B. TALK ABOUT THE WALLET TYPE YOU WOULD PREFER TO HOLD IN:

Hot wallet; EXCHANGE WALLETS! : I'm currently using a web wallet in the form of the Steem wallet to HODL STEEM and TRON but i would prefer to use an exchange wallet to HODL in the nearest future.

REASONS?

.PRETTY DECENT SECURITY/ I DON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT KEEPING ANY KEYS SAFE: Well when i decide to HODL a coin, i'd really like to use the simpler exchange wallets like binance to HODL the coins with. In my opinion, personally, I think it's really cool that the "keys" are not your responsibility when using this platform to hold coins, and it's level of accessibility is pretty decent. It's security is not the best out there, yes, i know, people hack exchange wallets, but then, in my opinion, except the hacker is top notch, to access another person's exchange wallet IS NOT EASY!. There might have been a slip up of information, leading to the hacker gaining knowledge of them, enabling him/her to "hack" the account.

.SENSE OF EXCHANGE FREEDOM: I also love the fact that unlike some other crypto wallets, it gives users the opportunity to exchange for other coins on the platform. Some like binance also allow trading too. Even though that is an unwanted side attraction when the main goal is to HODL the coin, it still feels nice to have that option for those interested in trading.

.VERSATILITY: Another reason is, since exchange wallets give an opportunity to switch, exchange and purchase other coins, while still "HODLING". i think with that strategy, i'd lose less, i mean, considering the wise saying; do not put all your eggs in one basket i think that would be the most ideal way to HODL ( in a scenario that i do not want to liquidate my current assets just so i could get other coins).

. ACCESSIBILITY AND DECENT USER INTERFACE: since this is all about personal preferences, I'm a sucker for nice user interfaces, I think anyone would feel better when they open an exchange wallet app that actually looks organised and sleek! to go through the wallet doesn't require too much learning or help, as everything is pretty simple enough to access on exchange wallet interfaces like "binance".

So basically, for me i'd go for exchange wallets!

QUESTION 2:

WITH SCREENSHOTS, SHOW HOW TO PERFORM "SPOT" TRADING ON ANY PAIR OF YOUR CHOICE

  • My pair choice would be the very popular BTC/USDT pair, not for any particular reasons though.
  • The platform used below is the okex platform, it allows spot and futures trading, alongside other trading features.
let's get down to spot trading shall we?
    Screenshot 2021-04-29 234041.png

First of all, I selected the type of trading i wanted, [spot trading] and then went on modifying the details above. I put my price in, [$375 circled in blue] and bought bitcoin at it's market price, as circled in brown. the blue arrow points to the amount of btc i'm buying at market price. lastly, i hit the "buy" button, and then:

the confirm box above popped up, you can choose to disable it, as seen in the picture above. I went ahead and hit the confirm button:
Screenshot 3.png

This confirmed my trade order/ placement!
Screenshot 4.png

I went ahead to ensure that the order was really placed, by checking my recent orders. how to check this is: just as seen above, there is a drop down arrow besides the "Assets-Demo Trading" button, clicking that would give you the option of viewing "assets". I chose that, as the red arrow implies, and it led me to my assets and recent orders as seen below.

And there is my trade!!!! pretty easy I think.

QUESTION 3

HOLDING OR TRADING, WHICH DO YOU PREFER AND WHY?
should i (2).png

PREFERENCE: In my opinion, amongst the three questions asked on this task, this is by far the most challenging.

but i'd go for HODLing!. I don't think I'm personally cut out for the crypto trading game, it's way too risky, even though more money could be made by trading coins, i'd be satisfied with HODLing my coins for now, until i'm sure that i can enter the crypto market comfortably as a trader.
Screenshot 2021-04-30 010401.png

REASON(S):

  • FINANCIALLY SAFER: well, in my opinion (once again, that's all this post is based on), for someone who has no experience whatsoever in reading charts and studying trend lines for days, trying to find perfect "entry points", and losing considerable amounts of money quickly, trying to learn crypto trading, HODLing seems financially safer for now, as someone also that is not buoyant enough to invest money into trading and lose it quickly without being affected.

  • STRESS FREE: with HODLing, all i have to do is assess a coin properly, and buy, then just....... WAIT!!!!. that's all!. But don't miss the first part about assessing the coin properly though! and of course with crypto, it could always go both ways, so profit is not 100% assured of course, but in my opinion, it's less stress than individuals who are into swift and long term trading on coin pairs.

  • LOWER VOLATILITY: when you hold a coin, the market blows are not as fatal as when one places a trade, with even a medium margin. To explain further, pip movements only endanger crypto traders the most. We all know that the crypto market is very volatile in movement, but when HODLing, you cushion the effect of volatility enough to not lose all your money at once.

CONCLUSION

Well that wraps up my entry for this assignment, I would HODL, but when I eventually learn enough about trading, just maybe I could venture into trading, or, I could copy trade, who knows?. Thank you once again @alphafx for the enlightening lecture this week, I hope you liked my entry.
