Explica con tus propias palabras que es una ICO.

Una oferta inicial de monedas, ICO por sus siglas en ingles, se refiere a una forma o estrategia de los nuevos proyectos para financiarse sin recurrir a préstamos previo a su lanzamiento, esto lo hacen ofreciendo a potenciales inversores a por su capital, una cantidad estipulada de criptomonedas de su proyecto, es algo semejante a lo que muchas organizaciones tradicionales logran cuando ofertan acciones de la organización, para obtener el mismo tipo de financiamiento, (lo que se conoce como IPO), recordemos que muchas criptomonedas, se utilizan para la gobernanza de los proyectos, por lo cual los inversionistas pueden estar interesados en su valor, tanto monetario, como para alcanzar una posición dentro de un proyecto.

En ambos casos, lo importante para el inversor es considerar las estructuras y el alcance del proyecto que esté realizando una Oferta inicial de monedas, eso es si la misión del proyecto cumple con una necesidad, o innovación importante, y si su estructura es la más adecuada, (con esto me refiero a su algoritmos, y el proceso digital que implica la creación de nuevos bloques), del mismo modo es muy importante el conocer de la legitimidad del proyecto, para evitar caer en estafas.

¿Cuáles son las ventajas y desventajas de las ICOs?

En este sentido las ICO para mi criterio tienen como ventajas, desde el punto de vista del projecto el financiamiento del mismo sin la necesidad de recurrir a créditos, teniendo a su vez una importante base de inversores, que se convierten en socios y que a la vez pueden ayudar a la difusión del proyecto, para hacerlo rentable, desde el punto de vista del inversor la ventaja es la compra de tokens con mucha proyección a precios muy bajos lo que podrían generar ganancias exponenciales en el corto o mediano, plazo además de compartir la gobernanza de un proyecto importante a futuro.
Como principal desventaja de esta estrategia es la seguridad, y esto lo comento desde el punto de vista de ambas partes, desde el punto de vista del proyecto, estos no pueden estar seguros totalmente de la identidad de los inversores lo que se presta para estrategias de lavado de dinero, por otra parte desde el punto de vista del inversor, como el proyectomuchas veces no es tangibles durante este proceso se pueden presentar estafas por empresas fantasmas que tan pronto reciben el dinero por los tokens, cierran cualquier plataforma o canal de comunicación con ellos, así como por supuesto la volatilidad del mercado que puede en cualquier momento variar el precio deltoken no proporcionando la ganancia esperada, o simplemente perder parte de su inversión.
