It’s with great honor that am here today to present my homework assignment after reading and doing my research on the lecture notes given by our professor @yousafharoonkhan, thank you for this wonderful lecture in our first week of this crypto academy we talked about decentralization and centralization after that we talked about their exchanges now we will be talking about decentralized social media and centralized social media.

To begin with I want to define a key term SOCIAL MEDIA.

What is social media?

A lot of people have various definitions for this but for me social media is a platform where people can interact and communicate with each other without physical contact this can done through social media platforms like Facebook, twitter, Instagram, what’s app and many more. Social media platforms work or run on two different platforms namely decentralized system and the centralized system.

what is Centralized social media?

Centralized social media I say is the type of platform where users can interact and communicate with each other without physical contact. But with this platform users do not have total control of their account because it is controlled by a single authority. This platform is based on certain rules and regulations which you will be penalized if you don’t follow them. In some cases your account will be terminated or suspended until when they please without your consent a pure example is Instagram they have a limit you can follow people a day when you don’t abide by that law your account is suspended for 7days. Also on centralized social media platforms users aren’t at the liberty to do what they like because there are weekly checkups on the users account that means users privacy and data safety isn’t guaranteed examples of this type of platforms are instagram, facebook, whats app and many more.

What is Decentralized social media?

As I said in our previous lecture we talked about decentralization is saying it is a system that is not run or controlled by a single person and I defined what social media is, so to put this all together decentralized social media is a platform where by users can communicate with each other but this system isn’t run or controlled by a single body. With this type of platform there aren’t any specific rules set in place unlike the centralized platform so users have the privilege to do what they please. In these platform developers of this platform do not poke their nose in other people’s account that is users have total control of their accounts let’s compare steemit which is a decentralized platform and facebook which is centralized looking at the two steemit allows users to post whatever they want but facebook if you post anything not suiting the posting rules your account will get blocked.

DIFFRENCES BETWEEN CENTRALIZED SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS AND DECENTRALIZED SOCIAL MEDIA PLAFORMS

Rules and regulations are laid down to be followed. Failure to do so attracts penalties	User only abide by rules and regulation set by himself.
Users do not have the freedom to express their selfs.	Users have a lot of freedom to express their views without any restrictions.
The system is run and controlled by a single authority so decision based on the platform is made for the user.	The system isn’t controlled by a single authority
Users data is not safe because it is prone to hackers	Safety is guaranteed since you have total control of your account
Your account can easily be closed down at any point in time by the platform without your consent	Your account wouldn’t be closed down without your consent

WHICH ONE IS THE FUTURE OF SOCIAL MEDIA?

Undoubtedly I think decentralized platform is the future because with decentralized social media platform users account are in their own hands unlike the centralized platform users do not have the freedom to post anything they due to so many restriction this is why you see so many users joining the decentralized platforms

Another factor is the users data aren't safe at all with the centralized platform day in day out hackers attack this platform and when they do they get a lot of valuable information of the user in platform an example is bill gates twitter account was recently hacked by a young teen. Accounts in centralized platform can be blocked without users consent but not so with decentralized platform this is why I say decentralized platform is the future of social media.

HOW STEEMIT DECENTRALIZED PLATFORM IS BETTER THAN TWITTER AND FACEBOOK

Any one who actually says twitter and facebook is better than steemit hasn’t actually used steemit.

To begin with steemit rewards users who post good content I don’t see this done either facebook or twitter. They are a lot of people who post day in day out in facebook but do not earn even a cent on the post they make but on steemit users are upvoted for every good content the user post this actually encourages writes to come out with more quality content.

Secondly steemit decentralized platform is actually made up of different communities we have the crypto academy, stock photos, world of football, writings and reviews these communities are put in place so that the user can have vast knowledge. For football lovers they can part take in the world of football and gain knowledge on current transfers and stuffs whiles the crypto academy prepares one can gain valuable knowledge about the crypto world so many educative communities can be found on steemit but I can say so for twitter or facebook.

Another factor is with steemit promotes creativity among users because one thing steemit frowns against is copying from another author. But with twitter you can copy without any trouble this actually promotes laziness and also because of the rewarding nature of steemit platform users try to be creative as possible in other to create good content so that they can be curated.

HOW STEEMIT SOCIAL MEDIA CAN CHANGE LIVES MILLIONS OF ITS USERS

Steemit social media is indeed a life saver and can have a great impact on the lives of millions of its users. There are a lot of people in this world who have a lot skills when it comes to art, writing,and many who don’t have jobs steemit social can be a source of employment to these people and also earn good money.

Another way steemit can change lives of million is steemit pays good content like I said earlier on for me steemit has personally helped me a lot I wish I had joined early ever since I have joined steemit I have earned good money which has helped in buying a lot of learning materials I lacked. when its users partake in any community and post good content they are been voted by steem curators and with this you can earn money which can be used to pay for your utility bills

Steemit social media platform is a very educative platform which can help educate users for example the steemit crypto academy helps broaden your knowledge in the crypto world I used to make some mistakes when it comes in trading in bitcoin but ever since I joined steemit I haven’t made that mistake again because we are being taught by our lectures not only the steemit crypto academy there are other educative communities in steemit where one can acquire knowledge.

HOW CAN WE MAKE MONEY ON STEEMIT DECENTRALIZED SOCIAL MEDIA

Making money on steemit os easy only when you know how to go about things on this platform for me how I make money on steemit is that am not based on one community as other users are doing I participate on the steemit crytpto academy where we are lectured and given assignment by our lecture who do marking and we are later curated by steemcurator02 most users think that’s the only place you can make money but I don’t think so I am a football fan and lover so I do reviews and previews of matches in the world of football community which I get paid for.

Also I aslo partake in contest in various communities like zero to infinity there is a current contest in that community I am stil planning of taking part in. Taking part alone gives you an upvote of $2 winners are also selected for an upvote from booming. Day in day out I write dairy games which hasn’t earned me much but its a start.

HOW TO CREATE A COMMUNITY IN STEEMIT

• after successfully logging in Click on the steemit logo as shown below

• look for EXPLORE communities from the options and click on it

• click on create community on your write top corner

• fill out the form and click on next.

• save the owner keys and click on create community

• the cost for creating a community is 3steem agree and continue

• enter your user name and active key to confirm transactions.
  

• Account successfully created

This is basically how you create a community on steemit.
