Barhi Devi Gangeshwari Devi Temple
The temple is located in a village which still follows the ancient rhythm as if the Industrial Revolution never happened. There is an ancient lake and there is this wonderful temple in the middle of the village. It is exquisite inside as well as outside and comes under the special categories of Barahi temples in Odisha.
On the top of the outer wall there is this Deity of Barahi Devi (Varahi). She holds Khadga, Khetka, Khatwanga and Kapal in her four hands,She does not carry a hala or ankush or any other minor armament. All his weapons symbolize his fiery tantric aspect. She doesn't give any lean quarters. She kills her enemies with two weapons. With the third she defends herself and averts attacks. With the fourth she drinks the blood of her enemies. It is the deity of fierce and dreadful beauty. She kills enemies. She destroys ignorance by the swift and fierce force of her power and terrifying beauty.
She is one of the Sapta Matrikas according to some texts. He is also one of the sixty-four Yoginis according to others. She is the fierce form of Kali and Goddess Devi.
