Assalamoalaikum all steemians how are you all? I hope everyone is fine.Another week another interesting challenge.I'm here to drop my entry in contest:
Steemit Crypto Academy Contest / S11W5 -: Steem blockchain age.
In simple wording we can say that blockchain age is a time since a specific block has been added to block chain, In the same way steem blockchain age means time since a specific action has been taken place on steem blockchain.
Genesis blockchain means the first block created in the history of blockchain.It is also know as the foundation block of blockchain through which all other blocks are linked.Genesis block is very special block because there is no previous block before it like others.It is known as either 0 or 1 block.
And the amazing fact is that the person or group who laid the foundation for the blockchain means genesis block is still unknown.His identity is mystery.But SATOSHI NAKAMOTO a pen name is used by the person or group who laid its foundation but their actual identity is not known.

First login to steem world then a home page will appear.secondly click on the block explorer option a new page will open as shown in screenshots.Third step is to write 1 in the block and click on ok option because we want to check the foundation block. Fourth step is a new page will open with information like timestamp, block ID and witness options.
Now to determine the time of the steem block chain foundation block login to SteemYY.com a new page will appear click on block chain overview option, following data will appear.
According to this data the latest head block is 77584401 , the timestamp is 2023-08-26 , 05:23:21 and the genesis block time is 2016-03-24, 16:05:00.

- Now to calculate the down time multiply the latest head block with seconds per block i.e 3
- then devide the obtained answer with 60 to convert it into seconds
- after that decide the obtained answer with 60 to convert it into minutes then with 24 to covert it into hours and then at last with 365 to covert time into years.
When a blockchain network or a particular node within it is not operating as intended and interferes with regular business operations, the term "downtime" is used.
Reasons behind downtime:
- sometims high transaction volumes could overburden the network as a result delay in the process and approval of transactions.
- sometimes blockchain software codes issues or bugs take time to resolve.
- Due to variations in consensus procedures, a blockchain may split into two different chains. As users choose which chain to follow, there may be downtime, temporarily delaying transactions.
- sometimes natural phenomenas like earthquake, flood , power cut leads to downtime.
Yes, the steem blockchain has experienced downtime.The blockchain had a disputed hard fork in March 2020, which resulted in a long period of network instability and downtime. This was one important instance.It was the dispute between steem community and group of stakeholders who wanted to take control of block chain by voting large amount of steem tokens, they were trying to centralize the sysmtem but steem community wanted to preserve its decentralized nature during this time period steem blockchain experience downtime as a result delayed in transactions was experienced by members.
The above screenshot also gives proofs that steem block chain has experienced downtime of about 16.65days.

Hola amiga, explicó de una forma muy clara lo que trata el bloque Génesis, de verdad que es el bloque 0 del cual se derivaron los demás para construir la cadena.
Por supuesto, la inactividad de la cadena de bloques hace referencia al tiempo en que ocurrre una falla y la cadena no puede funcionar adecuadamente. Explicó muy bien las causas de estas fallas, siendo algunas hackeos, errores, fenómenos naturales y el tráfico en la red.

El evento de 2.020 debido a una disputa entre la comunidad Steem y Steemit Inc resultó en un hardfork y migración de gran parte de miembros que ralentizó el sistema. Aunque creo que el record de 16.65 días de inactividad considero que no es un gran impacto.
