Am highly delighted to have taken part is this season 3 lectures, above all the lecture was well organised and i say kudos to prof @yousafharoonkhan for the masterclass shown in the presentation. After going through the lecture, i will like to make a submission on the assignment task.

What is a block explorer? And what is its purpose and use? Search for different cryptocurrency block explorers and list them below. At least five different crypyo currencies. Also explore the transaction of a crypto coin on block explorer and explain with the help of screenshot.

What is a block explorer?

In a simple tense, block explorer is a set of web-based applications or programs by which all transactionary information about a cryptocurrency transaction of any wallet can be viewed by anyone across the length breath of the globe. That means that everyone can see that amount of money sent to your wallet and from whom it was sent from, thereby bringing transparency to all parties on blockchain network.

And what is its purpose and use?

Block explorer has solved so many questions regarding to the transactions that are on going on the network and its purpose are as follows;
Time and when a transaction was confirmed: With the help of a block explorer one is able to know the time a transaction was initiated and when it was initiated as well as the time the transaction was confirmed by the recipient. With the example below, I open steemblockexplorer.com and searched for myself as hydra1 and my information was displayed, I went down and checked for some transaction I made from my binance exchange to my steemitwallet and copied the hash and went onto steemscan.com to search for that transaction hash, as one can see from the time stamp 6/21/2021, 4:26:45 PM indicating the day the day the transaction was made and the time at which the transaction was initiated.

Checking Whether Transactions Were Initiated: Thanks to block Explorer now we are able to check up to see whether a transaction was really sent. I experienced an incident where someone who claims to be a token doubler have sent a token of etherium wallet which was a lie, so I asked for his wallet address and checked it up and low and behold he didn’t send any real token but a ghost one which I was able to detect it and the moment I showed it to him he blocked me. Thanks to block explorer were able to avoid scams.
To Search For Informations: With the help of block explorer one can be able to check up the full profile of a person on the block explorer network. And example is the steemblockexplorer.com, one can be able to see the amount on steem one has, the steem power, reputation, current prices of steem and SBD, Account transactions and many more.

Open your browser and search for steemblockexplorer.com

STEP TWO
At the search textbox type in the username you want to search, after that click on the search icon or hit the ‘enter key on your keyboard’ for it to search for the username, for my case I searched up for myself hydra1.

Now the username has been searched and displayed with various information.

I looked out for a transaction I did and copied the hash 2145ad1e3ebf305a58c452b6a05ff86025f3a299

Which I then proceeded to steemscan.com to look up for that transaction

Search for steemscan.com

I now paste in hash of the transaction I copied in the search textbox provided and click on the search button or hit on ‘enter’ on the keyboard for it to be searched.
