Steemit Crypto Academy Season 4 Week 1 Post for Professor @imagen NFT Games

Value must not only be restricted to comparable properties. Yes, money (cash, fungible currency) has lots of value, but some types of value are taken more personal and cannot really be replaced with an identical, say an inherited pendant of a daughter from her mother, or prototype that had taken an inventor certain amount of years to come up with.

These items, though maybe physical are referred to as "non-fungible". This means that one can't just exchange them with an identical, and even if a similar-looking item is brought the personal attachments to these original items make them more valuable.

These types of valuable items are more common in the art world, and recently gaming industry and have a common name as Non fungible tokens.

Good day, beautiful Steemians, I am @hadassah26, welcome to my crypto academy season 4 week 1 homework for professor @imagen on NFT Games.

"1. Describe in your own words the main Advantages and Disadvantages (Pros and Cons) of NFT Games in relation to other game modalities."

NFT(Non Fungible Token) Games also known as Blockchain games are argued to be first developed by authors of Spells of Genesis in the year 2014. With the idea of making players play to "Earn" indestructible collectibles which can be valued financially but can only be sold at the considered price of the hard-earned owner, NFT games have gained so much popularity and have become a new very lucrative venture for gamers, graphic game creators and artists.

So why exactly are collectibles on NFT games valued differently?

Personal attachment

During the gameplay, gamers find their own personal value/attachment to different game characters and as well collectibles and prices, and more they see these prices as a reward for their dedication to the completion of a given task or stage of the game, so they value these collectibles personally.

Advantages of NFT Games in relation to other conventional Gaming

Uniqueness of Collectibles
Gaming involves passion, and passion brings about a personal attachment that is unique to different gamers. Conventional games provide collectibles but that is not necessarily unique for different players, NFT games have provided a unique collectible collection so players can have a feel of customized collectibles. This brings about a bragging right and collectibles that can only be valued by the gamer.

Accountable Source of Income
Gaming had generally been seen as a voluntary act of passion, and this passion had been repressed as gamers had to find another source of income, killing the whole gaming vibe.
Some recent games have provided an incentive, financially valuable, but one heavily controlled and only accountable by the Gaming company.

With NFT games being based on a blockchain platform, gamers earn collectibles which one, real although virtual but more indestructible and fully accountable on the blockchain network.
Two, having something to earn on playing a game, and more something tangible and that can not be destroyed due to the blockchain technology makes NFT gaming worthwhile.

Top notch Blockchain Security to Gaming
NFT games are based on a blockchain, and as we all know, blockchain technology can not be tampered with or easily hacked. This makes NFT games, unlike some conventional games where hackers may break into the gaming server and steal game points and collectibles, is secure and security solid.

Disadvantages of NFT Gaming in relation to other conventional Gaming

More Cause For Gaming Addiction
Too much of everything is bad including gaming. This is more disadvantageous to younger folks as they should be in their basic education acquiring stage in life, NFT gaming could become a major distraction to them as they could get lost in the whole gaming fuzz and start living a virtual reality in their minds while in a real-world of hard work. More with unique valuable incentives and collectibles offered by NFT gaming, gaming addiction is very likely possible.

Very New technology/Cause for Negative Speculation
Everyone is skeptical of something new, with no foresight of how much it may materialize or be sustainable, NFT gamers and investors who both invest money and personal effort and time become weary of how much they should invest in this new technology. This slows down the growth and also causes quick price volatilities on any news regarding the industry causing more speculations.

Blockchain Technology Bulk Energy Usage
Blockchain technology involves various confirmations, and this uses a lot of energy.

Conclusion

In conclusion, NFTs are not just tokens, they are cryptographically unique tokens, they bring a sense of individualism and uniqueness, which is why they are different.

Maybe NFTs would become a big deal in the future, maybe they may just be an art loved by a few, but one thing is for sure, NFTs are an innovation and an innovation that is going to stay.

Thanks.
