Homework Task-1

(1) What is PoB? What does curation mean to you in Steem Blockchain? What are the benefits of building SP? How do you explain self-upvote as a good or bad social behavior & why? Explore Coinmarketcap.com to indicate rank, STEEM price, and coinmarketcap of STEEM(screenshot required)? What are the different tokens do you earn by socializing in Steem Blockchain?

Question 1

What is PoB?

From what I understood from the lecture, the role of the content creators and curators are classified as proof of brain(PoB), which gets a reward pool of 65% in the steem block chain. It is called proof-of-brain because it is based on performing tasks.
Authors are expected to publish quality contents while curators are meant to ascertain whether the published content is plagiarism free and rich enough, and also if it adds value to them before upvoting/down voting the content. All these take a lot of brainy (intellectual) activities, hence the name "PROOF-OF-BRAIN.

QUESTION 2

What does curation mean to you in steem block chain?

Curation, from what I understand so far,can be defined as the act of upvoting/down voting a post. Curators are the people responsible for curating a post, this is done after carefully going through a content,If it's found worthy of an upvote ,you hit the upvote button, which gives a curation reward to the curators. But if the content is found to contain spam,or if it's a plagiarized work, or harmful in any way,it can be down voted (redistributing the curation rewards back into the ecosystem,in which case both parties get no curation rewards.

QUESTION 3

What are the benefits of building SP?

  • Steem power (SP for short) enables a user to possess a level of influence in the steem network.
  • The higher the steem power of a user, the more influence they have on the value of posts.
  • Building your your SP increases your voting weight, which in turn increases your curation reward
  • Published contents that has been curated get a payout after 7 day's time,in which case 50% of that payout goes to the author and the other 50% goes to the curators of that content, those with higher steem power(which also gives higher voting weight) get more curation rewards.

QUESTION 4

How do you explain self-upvote as a good or bad social behavior and why?

Self upvote from my own perspective could mean the following:

  • Not being able to get upvotes from other users because of a poor published content.
  • It could also mean selfishness, which brings about a bad social behavior.
It's best to upvote others,at least for the sake of being friendly and supportive to other users' posts, which in turn gets them rewarded and also gets you rewarded too.
This act can attract high level curators like the various steemcurators to you, instead of hoarding all the rewards from your own upvote.

QUESTION 5

Explore coinmarketcap.com to indicate rank ,STEEM price ,and coinmarketcap of STEEM

As at when the post was made, STEEM was ranked #196 in the Crypto market with a price of $0.2374 affected by a 24hr change of $-0.0272(-10.32%) ,with a trading volume of $2,418,094.12 (-19.95% 24hr price change) and a coinmarket cap of $96,345,409.67(with a -9.66% 24hr price change). A fully diluted market cap of $100,412,425.73(with a +24.97% 24hr price change).

QUESTION 6

What are the different tokens you earn by socializing in steem block chain?

Socializing in steem block chain enables you earn three basic tokens, namely:
Steem Backed Dollar (SBD), STEEM/Steem power and TRON(TRX)

  • SBD: This is a liquid currency token meant to be equivalent to the USD in the internal block chain, but can have a different value in external markets. It can be transferred to other accounts for transaction purposes and can also be traded with steem .

  • STEEM/ STEEM POWER: STEEM is another token you earn for socializing in steem block chain, but it is earned as steem power, which enables you actively participate in activities on the network,it also gives the ability to influence the value of other users'posts which earns you more rewards (curation rewards).

The process of converting your steem power to a liquid steem is called powering down, which takes a period of 4 weeks to complete it's cycle of weekly interval payments(the reverse is called powering up).

  • TRON : Since Tron was integrated into the steem block chain it's reward payment is equivalent to SP reward in a ratio of ISP:1TRX.

Observaion

Curation, from what I understand so far,can be defined as the act of upvoting/down voting a post.

This is actually not correct. I think you failed to understand the concept of curation. Curation is not all about reward and there’s more to curation than upvoting and downvoting posts. Curation is all about checking the originality of a post, it also includes taking your time to read a post and ascertain the quality and usefulness of the post to the Steemit platform and also ensure the post is free from plagiarism. Only then you can vote the post and share it with your followers to create a good network effect.

Recommendation / Feedback:

Though you tried to answer the questions in your own words, you missed some important points that could have earned you more grades. I hope you put in more time in your next assignment.

Thank you for submitting your homework task.
