Introduction

Non-Fungible tokens are very unique and irreplaceable digital tokens that operate on a blockchain. Like other assets, they can be bought and sold. They could be drawings, music, games, and any digital collectibles. They are non-fungible because they cannot be exchanged with other tokens, they are also very unique in the sense that they cannot be duplicated.

NFTs have been applied and changed the world of video games. It gives gamers the opportunity to play and earn at the same time and also own unique tokens that are in shapes of characters and accessories that can be found in games.

Advantages of NFT games in relation to other games

• Users gain income

NFT games are capable of producing income for users. NFT gamers engage in some activities in the game like fights, farming, etc, which give rewards that are of monetary value to them. This income can be very high and attractive.

Ordinary games are not capable of generating income for their users. It is rather the other way round; the gamer is supposed to buy resources in the game in other to proceed to advanced levels to generate income for the game owners.

• Token owned can appreciate in value

Cryptocurrencies are very volatile; they have the ability to appreciate in value, which means there is an opportunity for the gaming character owned by the user to increase in value. When this happens and they are sold, the user gains profit.

Other games without cryptocurrencies cannot give their users this benefit.

• Data Storage

NFT games store their data on the blockchain. Blockchain is known to be very secured and reliable, so gamers need not be afraid of losing important gaming data such as game progress, collectibles owned.

Other games are mostly offline, their data get wiped or corrupted if their memory space is mistakenly wiped or faulted.

• It is not easy to copy or duplicate NFT assets due to their non-fungibility quality. This makes it hard to be owned fraudulently

Disadvantages of NFT games in relation to other games

• NFT games are unexciting
NFT games when compared with other games are not exciting. NFT games do not have quality graphics and interesting storylines like other games do. They lack the exciting features that other games have.

• Because of the income that NFT games offer, they can be very addictive. Gamers who want to earn more will spend most of their time on the game.

•, Unlike traditional games, NFT games require private keys which are used to unlock accounts. If these private keys are lost, the account along with their NFTs are lost forever.

• To play NFT games, you will need to invest first. Other games do not require any investment to play.

This is a Band that digitalized their work and converted it to NFT in March 2021. They made an NFT Yourself collection that was valued at over $2,000,000,000. The most expensive NFT was sold for 89 Ether.

Dragonary is an NFT game that was introduced on 8 august 2021. it is a play-to-earn game where users earn while playing. It is free to play, which means there is no investment needed to play but investing in the game will yield more profits. Its free-to-play feature differentiates it from other games, users can play, earn to improve the dragons. Gamers earn by playing the game, they gain by the time they spend on the game.

The rewards are received in the form of tokens which can be utilized within the game, trade with other players on the game, or traded in the cryptocurrency market.

Game Play

When you start the game, you will first be given a dragon team of three common dragons. The features and values of the dragons can be improved through upgrades and training and they would be owned by you as NFTs. There are dragon activities on the platform like producing eggs, breeding dragons, or combining dragons to gain dragons with better features for battles.

The battles are in two forms, PVE (player versus environment that is battles between players and the environment and PVP (player vs player), which is player against player battles. Just like other games, you must complete tasks and missions to advance, gain objects, and progress in the game. However, unlike other games this one offers rewards as well.

Currently, there are Seven roles or elements in the game. The roles are to be taken into consideration in creating a dragon’s team for battle and should be balanced to increase the chance of winning in a battle. The platform aims to add 2 new elements on annual basis. The elements are;

• The Earth Element also known as The tank

Its main feature is to reduce the impact of any incoming damage

• The Air Element also known as The main Healer

Its main ability is to increase the healing ability of the dragons.

• The Fire Element also known as The physical DPS

This element increases the basic damage caused to opponent dragons in the front row.

• The Plant Element also known as Jack of all trades

Its ability is to increase the HP of the dragon, it can also cause damage to the opponent dragons and slow their attack by entrapping them.

• The Electric Element also known as the Range DPS

This element causes damage to opponent dragons and paralyzes it.

• The Ice Element

This element improves the HP of the dragons and also improves the basic and ability damages of the dragons

• Water Element

The basic ability of this element is to avoid damage on healed dragons by giving them a protective shield.

Rarities

The game has six rarities to ensure the sustainability of the game’s economy. The first two are grouped into common and uncommon rarities. Dragons possessing these rarities will be virtual and cannot be traded in the market but will be essential in gaining better rarities

The other rarities are Mythical, Legendary, Rare, and Epic, however, dragons with these rarities can be traded on the market.

How to install the game on your device

First, go to https://dragonary.com/. Click on DOWNLOAD on the top menu of the page.

From the options, choose your preferred operating system. IOS is not available at the moment but will be made available soon.

Select I agree to proceed.

Then finally, select download to start the download process. Wait patiently for it to download.

After the zip file has been successfully downloaded, extract it and install the application on the pc. After that, log into your coinary account to play the game.

How to Acquire the Coinary token

I will be using MetaMask as my wallet. Create an account if you don’t have an account already. Here is a video that gives a step-by-step tutorial on how to create a metamask account.

First, open your metamask wallet and click on the network menu to select a network.

Click on Custom RPC

Fill in the form with the required information

After the Binance smart chain has been successfully added. Click on add token.

Fill in the form with the required information and click next.

The token symbol is CYT.

To get the token contract address, visit the coinmarketcap page of coinary and you will find the token contract address. Copy and paste it into the form.
The token contract address is 0xd9025e25bb6cf39f8c926a704039d2dd51088063.

Click on add tokens to continue.

CYT will now be added to the wallet.

Now, to actually obtain Coinary, you will need to swap it on ApeSwap where it is listed. So go to https://app.apeswap.finance/swap for the swap. When the page opens, click on connect a wallet.

Select MetaMask to continue.

Click on next.

Confirm and click on connect.

It would be seen that the MetaMask wallet has been connected.

Enter the amount of CYT tokens you want to swap and click on swap. The amount to be received and the transaction cost will be shown. Confirm the transaction if you agree and the coins will soon be in your wallet.

Conclusion

The gaming industry is been revolutionized with NFT games. They generate attractive income for their users while they have fun and also investors can also make a profit from trading the NFTs.

NFTs when compared with other games have some deficiencies such as poor quality and boredom. If these deficiencies are taken care of, NFTs could take over the gaming industry.
However, much care needs to be taken as some of them have the possibility of being a scam.

Dragonary is an example of an NFT game, users earn just by playing it and no investment is required before playing. However, investing generates more rewards for the user. Also, the user needs not to have too much knowledge or experience to play the game.
