Hello everyone, it is a good day to be with you again. I am @gbenga and today, I will writing a post to answer the questions by professor @yousafharoonkhan. @yousafharoonkhan has done justice, looking into the social media issues and the Steemit blockchain and platform as an amazing decentralized social media platform. Join me as I answer all available questions.
Question no 1 :
Write the definition of Decentralized and Centralized Social Media Platforms in your own words. Explain in your own words the difference between decentralization and centralization Social Media Platforms (answer should related Social Media Platforms. (answer must be written in own words, copy-paste or from other source copy will be not accepted)
Social media has become a part of daily lives thanks to the emergence of the internet and companies such as Yahoo, MSN, Yahoo Messanger, and then the emergence of Facebook, Twitter, Twitch, Instagram, Snapchat, and so on but then, the emergence of social media such as Minds, Steemit, and many more, has given us a better option a better look into what a social media should look like.
Centralized social media are platforms that allow users to connect with friends and families for free while stealing both data, privacy, and ownership of every detail on their page. The server is controlled by single authorities thereby giving them exclusive right to use the data submitted by users to target them with ads or sell their data to other companies and countries that need them for malicious purposes. A good example of centralized social media Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter, and so on.
Decentralized Social Media has been on the rise lately as a result of the fact that Users have the right to their contents, and their data. The data isn't stored in a single server, rather it is stored on a public ledger (Blockchain) on several nodes.
Differences between Cecentralized and Decentralized social media
Centralized Social Media | Decentralized Social Media |
---|---|
There is no decentralized consensus mechanism | There is a decentralized consensus mechanism (DPOS, POS, etc) |
Data is controlled by a Single Authority | Data is controlled by no single authority |
Platforms are not built on a blockchain | Platforms are built on a blockchain |
Users privacy isn't a priority as data is sold for selfish gains | User privacy is key and important |
Users do not have a say in governance | Users can be a part of governance |
Question no 2 :
Which One is The Future of Social media? Decentralized or centralized Social media. (answer must be written in own words)
It is true that the word decentralized social media might be relatively new, but then all revolutions and innovations started new until they became a thing we couldn't do without. Over the last few years, decentralized social media has been taking over our lives with a person like me starting to forget about my Facebook password. One of the reasons why I do not like centralized platforms is the fact that one doesn't have the freedom to share thoughts as they could be censored.
Popularity might not be huge currently for decentralized social media but then, over the years, it will take over the mainstream of social media following the fact that people are starting to get more concerned about their privacy which puts centralized media in the dark.
Question no 3 :
How steemit decentralization social media is best than Twitter and Facebook. (answer must be written in own words)
Steemit is no doubt better than centralized social media such as Facebook and Twitter in so many ways including;
Feature | Steemit | ||

Governance | Yes | No | No |
Markdown | Yes | No | No |

Incentivise | Yes | No | No |
Privacy | Yes | No | No |
Selling Data | No | Yes | Yes |

With the table above, I should have proven the fact that Steemit is 100% a better option than Facebook and Twitter.
Question no 4 :
What do you say? How do Steemit social media change the lives of millions of its users? (answer must be written in own words)
I joined Steemit in 2016, and I must say that Steemit has been a source of joy to a lot of people ranging from paying their medical bills, paying school fees, being a source of income to a lot of people. Steemit asides from other social media is a ground to meet people from different countries without the boundaries of borders and language.
It has helped people to learn how to write and become better community builders, leaders and it has given different opportunities to a lot of people.
I have been a community leader for a very long time holding different positions and I must say that I have seen people who will continually be grateful to Steemit and the Steem Blockchain.
Question no 5 :
How can we make money with Steemit's decentralized social media? (write your own experience)
With Steemit, everyone wins. There are several ways to earn money on Steemit from being a developer who works directly with Steemit to code programs, being an administrator, A writer, a Curator, Investing for return on investment.
Never worry, you can be one, or more of everything on Steemit. You can be a programmer designing programs and Dapps, as well as being a writer on the Steemit platform while curating with SP or leaving the SP in the wallet so as to get an average APY of 3.84%.
I earn by writing, curating, delegating to projects, and investing. This is a way to keep the community active. Note that no one is less relevant on Steemit, everyone has their impact.
Question no 6 :
How to create communities on Steemit social media ( practical step by step ) & Promote your homework post on two social media, Twitter and Facebook (just share the link in the comments area)
The community feature was created to allow users to own and control their own community, creating their rules and being able to determine the contents to be created in them, thereby allowing a more streamlined and focused driving creation of posts.
I will be sharing a step-by-step method on how to create a community on Steemit.

Step 3
On the community page, you get a form where you fill in the Title (name) of the community and About (Details) the community. (Note that to create a community, you must have 3 STEEM)
Step 4
After clicking on "Next", a username and private key (owner password) for the administrative account for the community will appear, which should be saved properly and securely.
Step 5
