POB is an acronym which stands for Prove Of Brain. This how steem as an open source social block-chain protocol thrive, as an ecosystem of social blogging which is empowered by immutable content, which enables users to monetize their content.

Prove of Brain has to do also with the independent ability of a user to create good content, devoid of bad content and plagiarism. It is also the independence of knowledge to determine good/bad content.

Lastly, I learnt from our professor @sapwood that “The reward pool (65% of the total), the stake-weighed mechanism (SP), the wisdom of the people, all put together is known as (POB).

Curation means the process through which a content or an uploaded posts are ranked and filtered based exclusively on users feedback.
Steemit as a decentralized block-chain based platform employ this type of curation. While providing monetary incentives to promote the visibility of high quality posts according to the perception of the participants.

This process helps the curators to vote on a post to the end that the creator and curators have a share of the outcome of the vote (50%/50%).
And the author’s reward can be in SBD, SP & Steem. in cases of 50%/50% sharing or SP in cases of 100% power up.

SP which stands for Steem Power is an influence power to distribute rewards. I have been able to learn that steem power cannot be traded directly on exchanges. It is an influence power that attracts rewards based on the capacity it has accumulated with time through the activities of the user in the block-chain. The higher the SP, the more influence on the platform.

Self-vote is an act whereby a user power-up and builds up SP to upvote his/her posts, comments and replies. It is a bad social behavior on the block-chain because it devalues the entire system. Because the whole spectrum of steemit is to serve as a platform to reward creativity.

Self-vote is a bad social behavior on the block-chain because it makes the individual share from the authors reward and curation rewards at the same time, which to me is greed.
