This is the homework post of the lecture on Airdrop - Giveaway In Cryptocurrency on Steemit Crypto Academy Season 3 Week 3 | [Beginner Course] by @wahyunahrul.
1). What do I think about Airdrop in cryptocurrency?
Cryptocurrency project is always backed by the blockchain technology. Blockchain technology is providing the trust to the community about the security of the token and other features of the crypto. In blockchain project, airdrop is very common term and this is basically given to the participants without any investment.
By following some rules Airdrop is done to a specific community who are participating in the airdrop. In cryptocurrency world, the airdrop is needed for many purposes
- Attracting the investors. This is the first tool to attract the investor because it explains white pepper and let help the project to know to the world
- To know the community and the rest of the world about any project coming to the existence in this crypto technological world
- When any project is run out of short with the fund then they can look for investor through Airdrop as airdrop will help in mass adoption for the project and investor will find it useful for investment after knowing the details.
- In some cases, if company wants to gain more reputation to its shareholders, stakeholders or the employees then they can provide some airdrops in the form of cryptocurrency or in other means to gain some enthusiasm from that target community
- Ultimately, it's a promotional activity like advertisement in The Real World. By such kind of airdrop and offering, the promotion of any cryptocurrency can be done so easily.
2). How can we know about an Airdrop event so that we can participate?
Initially we don't have any suggestion from the lecture but we have got the idea about the airdrop so we can easily find airdrop. Most of the cases airdrop is given to the new project and for this reason we need to look for new projects. Existing crypto project also provide airdrop for above mentioned reasons in the first questions. I am suggesting a websites where we can easily find the airdrops related to cryptocurrency and this one is the most influential website of the cryptocurrency world that is coinmarketcap.
- Go to the website https://coinmarketcap.com/ and find
Free AirdropfromCalendarstab.
- You can find airdrops of many categories like ongoing, upcoming, exclusive, ended, participated etc.
- By clicking any of the airdrop you can see the details about that project and its airdrop rules or you can visit to the website, whitepaper etc of that cryptocurrency from this coinmarketcap website.
I think, this is one of the best way to get the airdrop info from trusted project because any cryptocurrency or exchange project has to be listed first in the coinmarketcap by following some rules set by this website.

3). Where are Airdrop events often held?
Airdrop events are normally held in social medias like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and some websites. In discord and telegram channel, the airdrop also lunches to the community. When any crypto project wants to offer airdrop, they will try to disseminate the information to its community through their social network and website.
As we are not going through many of the websites, so best ways for us to find from social medias. In that case we can search for the specified tag of airdrop. In Twitter, discord we can follow many of the channels and users who are regularly sharing the knowledge of cryptocurrency and airdrop. This should be the better way if we just look for airdrop in social media. For this reason, we need to find out those accounts and follow them.
This is pretty simple but should have some research on finding the quality airdrop events from social media because a social media is not a authority of sharing authentic information as the people is sharing their opinion in the social media.
4). Are all Airdrop events free from scams? Otherwise, how can we avoid the scam?
All the address we are receiving or getting event from several websites are not always out of scam. Scamming can be done in many ways like-
- Collecting data for selling or doing any crime
- By any means collecting the private key to have access to the wallet of the victim.
- To collect the reference information in another form so that can use the info for personal reference
- After attracting investors to buy airdropped token, then get out of the network after selling tokens to new investors.
These can be done by scammers. We need to be more careful when we choose any airdrop project. Whether it is standard airdrop, holder airdrop or Bounty airdrop we need to be careful about above 4 scamming issues. If we are careful about providing the mentioned information in the four points of above paragraph, then we can be safe in case of any airdrop scam.
Still, we need to analyse some other points-
Firstly, we need to identify the project and its details like purpose of it, what will be the use of this technology, feasibility of the project etc. By such kind of information from white pepper and their website offerings, we can take decision.
Secondly, we can check the developer’s panel. Are they experienced or not? What is their track record behind project development or any other field?
Thirdly, we can check the rules and regulations of the project of cryptocurrency. By knowing the rules and regulations we can come to a decision about their scamming authenticity to some extent.
But still, we need to keep in mind that we should not provide the above 4 scamming related info.
5). Have you ever participated in a cryptocurrency Airdrop event?
First ever airdrop I have received in the cryptocurrency world is DTC. This is D.tube token. DTube is a video sharing platform initiated with the steem blockchain basis. From its initiation it was popular with the video sharing in the steem blockchain network. But after a certain time, it is decided to offer its own coin named DTC.
In that time, it has initiated the airdrop. And you can see here the policy of airdrop of 4 million DTC token.
- 50% will be distributed to the users of D.tube who contributed with their video for making this platform better. I was in that group and I have got some airdrop which I am showing in the next picture.
- 25% for All investor who have participated In the partners of DTC in the process of token sale (IEC). I was also of that part.
- 25% for the DTube team.
As it was long back that's why I cannot share the screenshot of that time where I have received 152 DTC about 4 or 5 times in a month for 4/5 months at a stress. And this was for that 25% which I have purchased the initial offering token. And the rest was from that 50% which I have contributed from my video blogging. You can check my wallet about DTC that I have gained during airdrop.
I am sharing the screenshot of collecting DTC to compare with my airdrop. I have gained some DTC after the airdrop in reward form. I have sold 100 DTC in last November. Otherwise, whole wallet balance is from that two-airdrop portion of 25% and 50%.
1547 (current balance) - 100 (sold) - 568 (reward so far) = 879 (airdrop amount) DTC
6). an example of an Airdrop event that has passed and the airdrop was successful and one more example that has been proven to be a fraud
The successful airdrop I have experienced is the blurt airdrop. This is another blockchain based social media like steemit which is the hard fork of steem blockchain. It has declared to provide that much of the blurt, blurt power to its user on the basis of the pre 23rd hard frock asset balances of steem network. So, it has given similar amount of steem into blurt, SP into BP. As it is declared in the air drop and after sometimes, I come to know about this blockchain and when I have just entered there with my steem posting key, I have got the balance in my wallet which was in my steem wallet just before 23rd hard fork.
I want to mention one of the scam airdrops of TRX token. TRX is one of the popular coins of tron blockchain. It is well trusted and reputed in the field of cryptocurrency world. But couple of years back some scammers was using the information of tron blockchain airdrop and spread some fake news by making some similar to Justin Sun and Sun Foundation Twitter account, and asked the users to send them TRX and it will give them in return twice or thrice of TRX token. So many have done the wrong from that Twitter information. They thought as it is from the Justin Sun account and Sun Foundation then it should be well trusted information about the airdrop. Many of the victims send the private key and TRX, in return they not only lost their trx but also the whole balance of the Ether wallet. You can find many of the evidences if you go through the internet about this happening.
7). Look for examples of ongoing Airdrop events, make an analysis that proves that the Airdrop of my choice is good.

I have gone through the website of the https://nftify.network/ to find out details about the project. I have gone through many information form their website to know about their spamming or potentiality.
As I am a youtuber that's why went through their YouTube channel to check its potential potentiality. it has more than 1000 subscriber and couple of quality videos which is showing it is good network and its project is so good.
Found their specified roadmap which is realistic and achievable.
Going through the the potentiality of the team members is another path to check the potentiality of the air drop of any project. I have gone through their team members profile and cross checked. they are from graduated from reputed universities and they had some skills on that field as well.

After checking many informations and cross checking, I have decided that it's a good Airdrop and most importantly it is from the well and trusted website coinmarketcap.com. As this initiation of through the coinmarketcap then it should be obviously potential and ranking of the coin is also good in coinmarketcap website as well.
8). Explain the steps to participate in the Airdrop of your choice.
The steps to participate in the airdrop is pretty simple. Here is the steps of works.
As it is coming from the coinmarketcap website then now it is to to make N1 coin in the watchlist,
Joining telegram channel and group
Couple follow and retweet in tweet
And finally feel up the forms which is given in the airdrop page of coinmarketcap
Then it's done and have to wait until 25th of July when the airdrop owners list will be published.
