Crypto Academy Season 2 Week 3 – Homework Post for @yohan2on | Designing a Cryptocurrency Investment portfolio
Good day everyone, I’ve been looking forward to sharing the result of participating in professor @yohan2on tasks of designing a cryptocurrency investment portfolio. While students were encouraged to build a portfolio of $60, I decided to deposit $400 on my binance account for the purpose of this task. And the rewards have been amazing!
Reasons for the Selection of Tokens in my Investment Portfolio
First, there are a number of factors that I consider before buying a token. Also, I consider if I’m going to hold them for short term or long term. In the portfolio task we were given, I bough some tokens for short term gains and others for long term benefits. For each of the token, I also look at the number of token in circulation and the market pair. In summary, I do not neglect the technical and fundamental analysis when selecting tokens.
After depositing $400 to create a new portfolio, I invested $100 each on two tokens and $50 each on four other tokens. I invested more on tokens I expected to get me a better return.
Here are the tokens that I bought:
Rope Token ($Rope)
SafePal ($SFP)
Solana ($SOL)
Streamr DATAcoin ($DATA)
Certik (CTK)
OMG Network ($OMG)
Rope Token ($Rope)
I’ve been following the token for some weeks since they launched. The price of the token has been fluctuating due to low liquidity. The maximum supply of the token is just 10,000,000 ROPE. So at a price below $0.5 I knew it was simply a steal. I knew buying the token was risky as it was not listed on any major exchange. I decided to proceed with the risk, since the possible gains outweighs whatever risk there is.
I decided to buy the token from Orca on the 26th. And that decision, simply became my best decision. It’s not every time you find a token that does x2 easily. Since it was only possible to trade it with $SOL, I had to buy additional SOL for that purpose.
SafePal ($SFP)
SafePal wallet is an awesome app I have been using for a couple of weeks. It has access to different blockchain dApps like Binance Smart Chains Pancakeswap, Ethereum’s Uniswap and even Tron’s JustSwap. So it is not surprising that it is giving Trust Wallet a tough time. On IPhones, Trust Wallet does not even have access to those dApps.
Another reason that I chose SafePal is because it is a Binance Launchpad Project. We all know how tokens that were launched on Binance tends to appreciate in value during bull-runs. I’m currently anticipating for SFP to go x2 the price that I bought it.
Solana ($SOL)
You probably must have heard of SOL, it has made it to Binance Exchange’s top gainers list a couple of times in recent weeks. It’s a blockchain that attracts my attention. It is even stored on Sollet, an innovative web wallet. There’s just so much development on the blockchain to overlook its potential.
Recently, other tokens on Solana, like $SRM and $RAY have also had massive increase. I’m just excited that people are getting to know about the blockchain. Hence, I don’t want to miss out from the gains on the chain.
Streamr DATAcoin ($DATA), Certik (CTK) and OMG Network ($OMG)
A friend sent me a signal to buy those three tokens. He said the group that he belong to had done analysis on the tokens and that they are all currently undervalued. So I decided to invest $50 on each of them. I wouldn’t close the trades till I get some profits on them. So let’s simply watch and see how things turn out.
PortFolio Results after 4 days
I used Blockfolio to track the 5 tokens I bought from Binance and the other one I bought from Orca. $Rope was the only token that I did not buy from Binance.
Rope Token ($Rope)
This was the most profitable coin that I bought, and to be honest it was the riskiest as well. The token is only listed on Serum and tradable on Orca swap. I was very excited when I saw that the price have gone that high.
SafePal ($SFP)
SFP initially dipped after I bought, then I was a bit worried. So, I was very happy when I was later in profit. I actually bought the token for long term. I’m certain that the value will continue to appreciate.
Solana ($SOL)
I currently haven’t made any profit or loss on this token. I think I bought at the top. If only I had purchase the token a week earlier, I would have been in a very profitable position.
Streamr DATAcoin ($DATA)
I’m also excited to be in profit from DATA. Earlier in the year, I bought at a wrong time and DATA almost wrecked me. I had to overcome my fear to buy the token.
Certik (CTK)
I’m at a loss of about 2.5 dollars on this token. I wonder what went wrong. But one thing I’ve learnt in trading is that we win some and lose some.
OMG Network ($OMG)
This is another token I thought would dip. The price was unstable after I bought. So it was a really happy situation for me, when it turned to profit. I’d sell the token next week if possible.
Token | Price When I Bought ($) | Price Now ($) |
---|---|---|
Rope Token ($Rope) | 0.386 | 1.52 |
SafePal ($SFP) | 1.89 | 2.53 |
Solana ($SOL) | 43.57 | 43.07 |
Streamr DATAcoin ($DATA) | 0.1394 | 0.155 |
Certik (CTK) | 2.62 | 2.50 |
OMG Network ($OMG) | 7.10 | 7.59 |
Conclusion
It is no surprised that the riskiest token increased my portfolio the most. Like every trader, we tend to take the risk on a token with limited supply if we believe in the project. I’ve been following the discord groups of some of these tokens in order to get first hand information regarding their growth.
btw I want to thank @yohan2on for the opportunity to play around with a new portfolio. I would add the tokens to my previous portfolio later in the day.
