Today, the topic of self-defense in the life of every person, especially a girl, is raised very often. There are different types of self-defense of a person, the use of which depends on the conditions of the attack, the situation, the physical characteristics of the person who encroaches on the life and health of another person or his property, and their number. In this paper, we will consider the eastern martial arts in this direction. They are quite relevant today, because they provide an opportunity to win over several people at once and transform any object at hand into an object of protection and self-defense.
There are many types of martial arts, which are divided according to their purpose, style of struggle and philosophical significance. Therefore, it would be appropriate to consider and analyze the three main types of martial arts of this type.
The first type is called Chinese martial arts. This martial art has been used for self-defense since the beginning, since the days of Ancient China. It contains a large number of techniques, which involve all parts of the body. First of all, these martial arts are based on efficiency and effectiveness. They are based on the principle of turning the strengths of the enemy against himself with the help of many blocks, elements of defense and capture, which are present in this variety. The advantage of such martial arts is that they teach to anticipate each subsequent movement of the enemy, to respond quickly to the techniques and actions of the attacker and directly block them, thus protecting themselves from defeat. Thus, they develop coordination and strategic abilities, which is very necessary when defending against a street or other attack. Consider a subspecies of this martial art - Buck May, which is most often used for self-defense, because it has an unsurpassed line of block and defense, held by a fighter on the axis. The secret of this technique comes down to the fact that when the enemy opens the weakest areas of his body, the fighter strikes fast and accurate blows on them.
Next we will look at Japanese martial arts, which in turn are also divided into hard and soft methods of battle. Since the subject of our study is martial arts as a subject of self-defense, we will characterize only soft methods of struggle. This defensive technique is determined by the ability to resist the attacker, but with the use of rigid concepts of combat. They are also characterized by minimal use of force, which avoids serious injuries, unexpected attacks and direct the kinetic energy of the enemy's body in the right direction. The most striking example of self-defense through Japanese martial arts are its subspecies such as aikido and karate-do. Aikido does not have offensive strategies and aggressive attacks, it is based only on the use of opponent's force against himself. It is widely used among workers in dangerous professions and is definitely suitable for girls who want to be able to stand up for themselves. Karate-do is also one of the best methods of self-defense because of its specific blows, which are inflicted with both hands and feet, blocks, movements, as well as the study of human pain points, the use of grips, twisting joints, holding and throwing.

The latter we will consider the Thai martial arts, which are revealed as the most brutal form of oriental martial arts among these, and have many painful blows. Their goal is to survive at any cost. Let's discuss in more detail its subspecies such as Thai boxing, or Muay Thai. It consists in the use of a special percussion technique with the use of hands, legs, elbows and knees because of this feature it is called "eight-handed boxing". This gives him an advantage in confronting the attacker on the street or indoors.
Thus, having identified the main types of martial arts and characterized them, we can conclude that their practice as self-defense is effective and efficient. Their main advantage is that most of the training is sparring, which simulates a real combat situation. It helps a person to get used to morally and not be afraid of such situations and react quickly to dangers. Each type of martial arts has common features and points of contact, but still differ in some of the characteristics mentioned above. They are effective in different ways, so everyone can choose the martial art that suits them best in terms of physical training and philosophical significance: whether it is softer fighting techniques of Chinese or Japanese martial arts, or, conversely, tough Thai.
