Hi everyone!! This is my homework post for professor @yousafharoonkhan.

The use of Social media across all age groups has become an integral popular and almost important aspect of living. We reconnect with old friend, meet new ones, learn new things, get updated about prominent personells and celebrities, get update about a product and also follow company pages, all on social media. However, the most popular social media are centralized, this comes with a lot of disadvantages compared to the currently emerging decentralized social media.

1. Write the definition of Decentralized and Centralized Social Media Platforms in your own words.Explain in your own words the difference between decentralization and centralization Social Media Platforms (answer should related Social Media Platforms . (answer must be written in oun words, copy paste or from other source copy will be not accepted)

Centralized social media are interractive applications which are owned and controlled by a central authority. Examples include Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Tiktok, WeChat, Whatsapp and Tumblr. In centralized social media, users data are stored on a single server and the company has control over user accounts. This means that a user can have his account restricted from certain functionalities or in extreme cases, get banned, like the permanent banning of Donald Trump on Twitter. Because data exist on a single server, the social media company can manipulate data or in some cases sell user data to advertising companies. A huge disadvantage to centralized social media is that accounts can easily be hacked. We've seen cases of celebrities getting their social media accounts hacked in order to dispense misleading informations.

Decentralized social media are interractive applications where users creates contents, which are not stored on a central server. Instead, data on transactions between users is stored in a vast network of user terminals connected in a P2P. Hence no central server has authority over user data, the users can't be banned and there is a reduced risk of account being hacked by malicious third party. Having no central authority over the social media gives the user freedom of communication, not fearing if their contents could be deleted or restricted. Popular examples of decentralized social media include Steemit, Lit, Mastodon, Indorse and Foresting.

Tabular Differences Between Centralized social Media and Decentralized Social Media

Centralized Social MediaDecentralized Social Media

2. Which One is The Future of Social media ? Decentralized or centralized Social media.(answer must be written in own words

The future of social media is decentralized social media just as much as the future currency is cryptocurrencies. Users data are secure on the blockchain and less prone to third party malicious manipilations. User's data don't get some to advertising company and users has freedom to communicate whatever they want. Messages on decentralized social media are end to end encrypted and can not be spied on.

3. How steemit decentralization social media is best than Twitter and Facebook.(answer must be written in own words)

Steemit is better than Twitter and Facebook because
  • You get rewarded for the content you produce
  • Users feed is not necessary as a result of complex algorithm focusing on relevance or ranking, but also chronologically
  • Accounts can't be banned
  • There is no overwhelming and unnecessary ads

4. What do you say? How do Steemit social media change the lives of millions of its users?(answer must be written in own words)

There is presently a contest in the Steeming Community called "Dear Steemit" where users write a letter to steemit explaining how they feel about him, their likes and dislikes. Majority of the entries shows that Steemit users are happy being part of the platform. In fact, many Steemit users don't use Facebook as much as they use steemit. Their contents creation skills have improved as a result of constant blogging and curation by experts. Many users have learnt to use graphic design tools. Presentation of content of users have improved and also, thanks to the Steemit Crypto Academy, many users are learning more about cryptocurrency and the blockchain.

Personally, steemit had helped me fend for myself, it helped me kickstart many projects I wanted to do.

5. How can we make money with Steemit's decentralized social media.(write your own experience)

I joined steemit 2017 and I've preferred it to Facebook because my contents generate revenue for me. Whether I'm producing contents or reacting to the contents produced by other users, I get rewarded. Making money on steemit however is not as easy as it seems. One needs to master the art of creating quality content- by quality content, factors such as grammer, presentation, pictures, no-plagiarism, no copyrighted images, and ability to communicate what you intend are required.

I prefer getting involved in contests and the steemit crypto academy because the moderators and curators have something they are specific about, they know what they want in a post. Rather than an article that can be from any genre.

6. How to create communities on Steemit social media ( practicle step by step ) & Promote your homework post on two social media ,twitter and facebook (just share link in comments area)

  • Creating my community on Steemit. In my already logged in account, on my feed, I clicked on the community box to show lists of popular communities.

  • When the interface popped up, I scrolled down to choose Explore Communities. This opened a new interface containing all existing communities on Steemit.

  • In the newly popped interface, I clicked on create community.

  • Now I input the name (Title) of the community I want to create and a short description about the community.

  • Steemit generated a username and password to the community I intend creating. I was also prompted to secure this information well.

  • Now to finalize creating a community, I was to be charged a sum of 3 Steem.

  • My newly created community is now live.

Conclusion:

Decentralized social network is set to disrupt presently existing centralized social media because of absence of central authority and high level of data security. Steemit as the first decentralized network will be the reddit, as Mastodon is the future Twitter and Indorse the next LinkedIn.

Thank you!
