Yesterday, I learned about blockchain technology and the internet of things (IOT), benefits of internet of things, its features and many other things from the post of our respected professor @yohan2on and here is my homework task in this regard. So let's get started without wasting much time.

Question no 1:

Explain why the future Internet of Things depends on Blockchain.

What is Internet:-

If we look at the word internet we know that internet tried to connect the humans with each other so they can share data with each other and communicate, as like now everyone is connected to one another by means of internet. Lets take a real world example such as you guys know that now a days every second person in this world is in lockdown or in quarantine which means that they can't meet each other or they can not talk to them face to face but even in this difficult time still we are connected with one another through the internet, everybody can talk face to face via video call, we can communicate through messages, we can also share our data with anyone we want. This means that everybody is connected with everyone through internet.

Internet Of Things (IOT):-

Internet of things (IOT) is same as internet. As I mentioned above that internet has connected the humans with one another but here different things are connected through internet which is known as Internet Of Things (IOT), here things are referred as devices. All those devices that have sensors and the ability to communicate such as air conditioner, oven, washing machine, car, bike and all automation vehicles are added in the platform of IOT. Moreover many more devices are being added day by day on this IOT network rapidly. Internet of things accomplishes this by interconnecting multiple devices, which then share data through network interoperability. So what happens is that all our devices are simply connected to the internet and once they get connected to the internet now they can share the data or they can communicate with each other by using the common language. Once the devices are connected to he IOT platform now we can handle or control every thing in our smartphone. The Internet of Things has significantly improved humanity's standard of existence. IOT has set the standard so high that I feel other technologies will find it difficult to compete with it in the future.

Internet of things and blockchain technology:

Firstly if we pay attention towards blockchain technology, we know that blockchain technology uses encryption and ledger file system and these two things makes blockchain technology very powerful and these provides a very high security level which is done by means of cryptography. Blockchain technology are used in cryptocurrencies and it makes your digital assets a lot more powerful and now this technology is introduced in your IOT system in order to provide more security. Normally IOT system works on a centralized system where a server is connected with different devices which sends their data to the central server and the data is then analyzed which generates multiple results and then send it back to those devices, on this basis these IOT devices provides more better results.

Why Future Internet of things (IOT) depends on Blockchain Technology:

As we know that there are many disadvantages of centralized system and the biggest disadvantage of centralized system is that when many devices are connected in it or when many IOT systems are added in it, it will be too slow and it will have a lot of security loopholes and you may also found many difficulties in the scaling up or in the upgradation of the system. So the solution to all these things is Blockchain technology because when more devices are added in the IOT system so we have to scale up the system which means that we have to enlarged our systems so that they can handle more devices. But to what extent will we be able to scale up our servers will also be dependent because we does not only have to scale up our system but also need to make it powerful. Secondly their is another important factor and that factor is security because when a lot of devices are connected a system then many devices may have loopholes and many devices may be hackable, so all these devices also need to be fixed.


All these problems can also be solved if you use third party system to check the security, system and fill the loopholes and failure of the system and provide us results which means that the third party has to check the failures of the system, fill the loopholes, verify every transaction and then move forward the transaction one by one. But if we use this this system system, te system performance will then become very slow and no one will ever wants that. So this is the reason behind introducing Blockchain technology in Internet of things.

How Blockchain technology tackle the issues faced by IOT:

Blockchain technology is a distributed system that dos not depends on a single server, which makes it more powerful and beside this it uses ledger file system which contains their data inside every computer in the network. Ledger file system makes the blockchain technology a lot more powerful so that no changes can be made in it. You will not have to use third party method in the IOT system for verification and authentication because here all these things will eliminate automatically and you will provided with better security. Blockchain technology is very powerful that it can save your system from any type of hacking.


Besides this another main advantage of blockchain technology is that when you introduce blockchain technology all the devices these work together, there is no dependency on a single server and as a result the performance of your system get very boosted.


There are a lot blockchain technology based IOT systems are now available in the market one of which is IOTA which is the first open source distributed ledger, designed to power the future internet of things with feeless microtransactions and machine data consistency.

Research and create content on the following IoT Blockchain use case.

They are engaged in the production of blockchain-enabled IoT solutions. They create blockchain-based products that are IoT compatible.


Filament develops Blockchain enterprise solutions by creating development blocklets that enable the use of blockchain technology within the Internet of Things (IOT) network. The company includes blockchain-based hardware and software into their IOT goods, which aids in the resolution of issues linked with IOT-based products, allowing IoT data transactions to be generated and managed without the issues of latency and data security. Filament uses hardware and software technologies to enable devices to communicate data and interact with one another in a decentralised distributed manner.


Filament has also raised their game with their recent hardware and it can be seen that it is totally enabling. As I have mentioned above that the company was officially founded in 2012 and was officially launched in 2013. In this short period of time it can be seen that this company gained massive transformation and its value is also recognized in the DLT.

Partial applications of filament:

1. Blocklet Foundation Kit:

Blocklet foundation kit is a tablet device. This kit was created to help embedded developers handle difficulties related to blockchain-based IoT. It provides embedded developers with pre-installed applications and guidance. It is used by developers to demonstrate how data is shared between blockchain devices in a practical manner.

This chip is housed within the gadget. The device may connect to the IoT Blockchain network and conduct secure transactions due to this microchip. As a result, it will make it possible for IoT devices to collaborate with blockchain, resulting in increased transaction security.

3. Autonomous cars:

Filament and the University of Nevada have joined together to explore Blockchain IoT. The goal is to improve data transfer efficiency between autonomous vehicles and infrastructure in order to make vehicles safer.

Conclusion:

As we know that the evolution of internet of things (IOT) has made things easier for not only computer experts or scientist but for everyone. Men needs no longer toil or moil with his hands to make things happen for them, everything is now on their finger tips. Moreover the association of blockchain technology with internet of things (IOT) has solved many issue faced by the IOT such as network scalability, data security, cost and speed.


Filament is also the use case of blockchain technology which creates different types of IOT goods with the help of blockchain based hardware and software such as microchips, autonomous cars and many others.
