Social media is technology that is computer based that makes the sharing of ideas information among users so easy globally. These social media is accessed by users through their smartphones, computers tablet etc. pure example and the popular known social media is Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc.
Having an idea of fiat hat social media is, let now know what centralized and decentralized social media is all about.
A social media is said to be centralized when it’s been controlled, owned and managed by a central authority, organization etc. in these type of platform the users crate an account access it, but do not own it as the created account can be blocked by those in charge of power at any time when you did not follow the rules and regulation that set by the authority. In centralized social media their is no freedom of expression for the users.
A decentralized social media give users freedom to express them self, also to make decision and control their account without been banned for any reason. I could remember when the steemit teem needed some professors in the crypto academy lot of users were given the opportunities to make decisions on how to go about it, lot suggested that their should be and assistant professor to grade some home work post And suggestion were taken into consideration.
recently there was an upgrade in the steemit platform when you want to make a post manny users complained about it and it was removed, this is a good example of decentralized social media were users have total freedom to express them self either good or bad. The centralized social media can’t give you this kind of freedom.
It does not deal with rules and regulations Users account are fully theirs as those who created the decentralized social media platform is not in control. Example of a decentralized social media is mastodon, steemit.
In terms of security the centralized social media is poor as some times messages are not end to end encrypted making information shared within users to lick and fall into the hands of hackers. While in decentralized social media security is very strong no need to fear when running your business
in terms of ownership, in centralized social media you do not own your account it can be blocked or ban at any given time. While in decentralized social media the account is owned by the user and you can’t be shut out from using it.
In terms that f freedom decentralized social media gives users freedom of expression, make decision, while in centralized their is no freedom of expression, no room to make decisions you only subject to the rules and regulation made by the central authority.
In terms of use decentralized social media is not easy to use let take steemit for instance newbie to the platform have to go through the newcomers community to understand the platform very well by engaging in achievement post these might take some days or weeks to understand steemit platform. Users can’t open account newly without a pro in the platform teaching them that your master keys must me save privately unlike Facebook were you choose a password you can easily remember.
While in centralized its is very easy to use you just create an account add friends or followed and start conversation, sharing videos and photos etc.
It’s is difficult to determine as both are still use for business. But from my own point of view I will choose the decentralized social media reasons is
- your business is secured and is not monitored by a third party. Also, base on decision making issues so users won’t be pleasant with some rules and regulation made by the central authority.
Some times ago my sister facebook account was restricted from posting for about 2weeks or more this incident made her loos some followers as she was not able to update her customers with her latest designs as as a result of this not all users can handle this. The decentralized social media will not restrict you from making a post in other words I’ll say that the decentralized is the future.
With my experience Using Both the centralized and decentralized social media I’ll say that steemit is far better than Facebook and Twitter with my following points
steemit reward its users . On the other hand, Facebook Twitter earn from its users when you make use of the platform.
Using Facebook for long period of time since them my account has been hacked over three times steemit on the other hand has not been hacked before base on its numerous alphabetical password making it difficult to hack unless you undisclosed your password.
Steemit educate its users.
in Facebook x Twitter, you have to follow rules if you go against the community standard either by a wrong post or comment your account will be banned.
HOW DOES STEEMIT CHANGE THE LIVES OFVITS USERS
in this question I will use my self as a case study steemit platform has change my live in two ways which are financially and in knowledge.
I never believed that their is a social media which can reward its users by creating quality content by receiving upvote, the earns can be cashed to your local currency after 7days I believe this has helped so manny other steemit users in solving some financial issue.
In terms of knowledge, i have learnt so many things from this platform. steemit made me known varieties of food globally and how it’s been prepared while manny people pay chef to learn.
Steemit increase my knowledge about crypto space trading , using of wallets etc following the introduction of crypto academy into steemit platform. It was from crypto academy I learnt how to use metamask and swap a token etc..
Still in the area of knowledge steemit made me understood that coping some one content on internet without proper citation is a thief and attract a punishment when caught
With the above reason I believe steemit is of a great impact to its users.
HOW TO MAKE MONEY WITH STEEMIT DECENTRALIZED SOCIAL MEDIA
Their are various way to earn from steemit but the popular one are
- publishing quality content and receive an upvote
- curation reward
- delegation as you get interest
I focus on writing quality content To earn and sometimes too curate but the curation reward is low due to low steem power that gives you influence over post.
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MY CURATION REWARD AND AUTHOR REWARD
- my last week curation reward was 0.774 it’s low due to low steem power
- my last week author reward is 11.483 steem power and 10 sbd. This are the ways I earn from steemit.
Users also earn by buying upvotes but it’s not advisable post quality content and your post will be visited.
- log to your steemit account click on steemit
- click on all post and scroll Dow to explore communities
- explore community
- click on crate community
- them you put the community name and what the community is all about
- them you save your owner password safely and click on crate community
- you will need to pay 3 steem for this click on okey
- them confirm your password to pay and crate the community them click on sign in after that it will show you that your community has been created.
Users can now subscribe and post and receive upvote.
In conclusion
A decentralized social media platform is better than a centralized base on freedom of expression the decentralized offers and some times receiving reward like steemit thanks for reading through my post.
