What are Sustainable Contract Series?

How Understanding Perpetual Contracts🤷🏻
Spot trading is easy to understand:
If you think the price will rise (bullish), you buy and become a long position📈.
If you think the price will fall (bearish), you sell and become a short position📉.
However, spot trading is a one-way transaction, and you must hold the physical asset to complete the sale.
This limits the act of selling.
~
To solve the problem of not being able to sell without holding the physical asset,
derivatives known as futures (contracts) were created from the spot market. Futures are goods for the future📄.
You can think of futures as a contract that allows you to exchange the physical asset at expiration.
The object of futures trading is the futures contract, not the physical asset 📄.
Futures trading is a two-way transaction, allowing both buying to open a position and selling to open a position.
As long as you make the opposite operation when closing the position, you can square off.
~
Since money has time value, future money needs to be paid interest;
Goods need storage, and future goods need to be paid storage fees;
Therefore, futures prices should be higher than spot prices🏦.
~
So, is there a type of asset
that has the price of spot and allows for the two-way operations of futures?
Enter perpetual contracts📊.
Perpetual contracts seem to be unique to the crypto world
and are considered a money-making tool for exchanges💸.
Futures have an expiration date, after which both parties pay and take delivery of the goods.
Perpetual contracts, as the name suggests, are perpetual.
They never expire, never require delivery, unless you choose to close your position.
In a sense, spot is like a 1x perpetual contract that only allows for long positions.
Since there is no expiration, there is no need to consider interest rates and storage fees🏦.
Thus, the price of perpetual contracts is anchored to the spot price.
To keep the price of perpetual contracts anchored to the spot price, a funding rate is introduced (which will be explained in detail later).
This is roughly the logic behind perpetual contracts.
