Hello Everyone! With the great excitement, i welcome you all here in the homework task for the professor @yohan2on. This lecture is about the IOT. The IOT has revolutionized the world and leading it to become more digital. Let's start the homework task.

1 - Explain why the future Internet of Things depends on Blockchain.

The IOT(Internet of Things) is a new technology which is getting popularity rapidly throughout the world. The Human are being replaced with the machines in this fast time. You ca see the internet everywhere in your surrounding. From home appliance to the office, the IOT is everywhere and taking your lives in control. The basic purpose of the IOT is making your life easier. The task which take much time and effort if a man do it is done in short time with help of IOT technology.

It is basically the network where multiple devices are connected with each other and are working for easiness of mankind. All these devices work by sharing the info with each other and perform the task without human involvement.

The IOT is the most advanced and rapidly developing technology which is making the present era more digital. There is no need to involve the human at any phase. At home, you have refrigerator, CCTV cameras, Smart doors, etc. All these are the example of IOT which you are using on regular base at your home. You cannot deny the importance of IOT in your life.

Even having this much benefits of IOT, we cannot ignore the drawbacks of it. The most important dark side of IOT is, it is centralized technology. It work on the centralized system and we know that centralized system are actually are own by a group or a person who operate it according to his own rules.

The centralized system store the whole data on a central computer which is known as server. If the server get hacked, the whole system will be hacked. Moreover, if the server get damage, it result in failure of whole network. The security is not ensure here.

If we talk about the blockchain technology, then it is totally decentralized and do not own by a single person or a group. This decentralized technology ensure the user security by using the special cryptography techniques. Here the data is not stored on the single computer but on all the participant nodes.

This is extremely hard to hack the hundred of thousand devices at once for hacker. SO there is not thread of being hacked. The data stored on the network is totally transparent. Everyone on the network is able to see the data stored on the network. The data is immutable. You cannot change it after storing it on network at all.

The IOT still needed to be developed on some points. Many people are not using it still because of many issues. Some among them are as follow;

No matter what the system or technology you are using, the security is always your first priority. The user want to secure their data. But due to centralized characteristic, the IOT is not that much secure. This centralized technology store the whole data on the server and it can get hack.

This security thread stop many people to use it. Because if the hacker hack it, he can change the data or can damage the devices.

But if we embed the Blockchain technology in IOT, we can eliminate such sort of security issues easily. The blockchain technology is decentralized so data is not stored centrally on the server. There would be no change of getting hacked by server. The data would be store on all the participant nodes which is not changeable but totally transparent. The people are connected with each other and information is share among all. The technologies which secure the blockchain such as cryptography, will make the IOT equally secure.

Centralization/Decentralization

The IOT technology is centralized. This mean that the whole data of the system is stored on the server. If server get hack, the whole system will suffer a lot. If server get damaged for some reason or stop working, the whole system will stop working. Moreover this sort of systems are owned by a person or group who run it according to their or rules and regulations. The users are bounded to follow those rules.

But if we embed the blockchain technology in IOT system, it will become decentralized. This will not be owned then by a single person or organization. All the users will be more important and will have freedom to share their thoughts about how to run a system. It would become more secure and more independent. The independency will then encourage the users to use it freely without any thread.

Scalability

The IOT is a centralized network which is handled by a single group. This group is responsible that all the network activities work efficiently. They are responsible for taking the data from the connected devices, manage that data and store that on server. This group also responsible for sharing the data among all the users. It like a single person have to manage the whole business like from taking order to taking payment.

But if we embed the blockchain technology in IOT, it will become more smooth and easy. This will help in solving the scalability issues which we had in centralized IOT system to the great extent. There will not be a single server. The data will be shared and stored on all the participant nodes. This system will become more broad and more secure where the task will be perform in less time.

Question 2 - Research and create content on the following IoT Blockchain use case.

FILAMENT


We have talked above about the amalgamation of blockchain and IOT and see how effective it will be if we embed the blockchain with IOT. The Filament is a tech company whose basic goal is to embed the IOT with blockchain to some extent and make a union of these two technology. This was developed in 2012 by the Allison Clift-Jennings.

The Blockchain based products of Filament which are decentralized and transparent are embedded with the IOT products which solve many problems of IOT based products. The union of blockchain and IOT is the specialization of Filament where the issues of IOT products are solve with help of blockchain based software and hardware tools. The main purpose of Filament if to solve the problems of IOT based products which will result in enhancement of security and scalability level of IOT system.


This company is working for amalgamate of IOT and Blockchain. This amalgamation will be more secure and enhance the trust of user on IOT products.

Security: The Filament will enhance the security of IOT with help of blockchain technology. The IOT network will be more secure as there would be no chance of hacking the system. The system will be transparent and immutable. This will increase user's trust on this technology.

Blockchain based tools: The blockchain based hardware and software tools are used which make the IOT technology more advanced and secure.

Decentralized: The Filament help the IOT to work with blockchain. The system will become decentralized to some extent. There will no need of the third person to run the system. Moreover, there wouldn't be any server.

Fast Communication: In blockchain technology, we used the Distributed ledger technology to share the data among the nodes. The IOT become more fast and communication is done in a organized way between the participant nodes with help of Filament.

Conclusion

The IOT technology is getting popularity throughout the world and getting the people's attention very rapidly. The IOT is making our lives easier and faster. You can perform a task easily without human interaction in small time. If we embed the blockchain technology with IOT, the IOT will become more secure, fast, reliable and more people will attracted toward it.

The Filament is a use case of the IOT which we have studied in this homework in depth. This help in union of IOT and blockchain. This amalgamation will become more useful, and make the system more secure and faster. The efficiency of IOT is increased because of filament and with the its approaches, the world is getting more benefit every moment.

This allow devices of the network to interact with each other without the interference of any third party. The decentralized characteristic of the network will make it transparent, immutable and hard to hack. I think the IOT and Blockchain are made for each other. Solely, they are performing the marvelous functionalities. But if we embed these two, they will become more and more

beneficial.
