Decentralized Applications(dapps) - Crypto Academy S5 - Homework Post for Task 8

What are dApps? Explain the working system of dApps? What are the differences between dApps and other applications? Explain the advantages and disadvantages of dApps? How can dApps developers promote their apps? What should we pay attention to when using dApps? How do we find the information of a DApp that we want to know? Provide the steps (Screenshot required).
What are dApps?
Dapps are applications that run a peer-to-peer computing system and are connected to each other directly via nodes which performs consensus mechanisms to verify transactions. In as around 2015 ther were only 25 dapps in existence but with the rate of growth of cryptocurrencies has increased the need for dapps, hence there being over 3600 dapps which now include games, social media platforms and decentralized financial currently in existence.
Explain the working system of dApps?
Dapps are just programs that operate on blockchain network technology where there is more transparency amoungst users because of the open sourcesoftware. Dapps sre also protocols which run on distributed computing system which observe transactions being performed by users without the involvment of a third party, and these transactions are recorded in a ledger and are displayed for every user to see.
Dapps are fueled by tokens generated by protocols and these tokens are also mined by different algorithms. Dapps also uses proof - of - stake and prof - of - work to reach consensus agreements between users.
What are the differences between dApps and other applications?

Explain the advantages and disadvantages of dApps?
Advantages of Dapps
1. One interesting advantage of dapps is it's open source code. It enables users to build on it, enhance it, to achieve something greater and much better and it also promotes transparency and trust amongst users.
2. Another interesting advantage of dapps is the ability to store data permanently. Once any information is added to the blockchain network that information is stored in the nodes forever hence stored permanently.
3. Also dapps offer a higher transaction speed, which hence reduce cost and also unlike other centralized, dapps do not need to install heavy servers and experts to manage the data.
Disadvantages of Dapps
1.Maintainance of the dapps systems is a bit complex since it is distributed beween peers, maintainance and debugging is little complex as all peers have to update their nodes software in the network.
2. Dapps sometimes takes time to load pages and payment proccess also get delayed a bit, this leaves a tagtime hence slow speed.
3. One most important disadvantage of dapps is that it is not user - friendly for new users. It is a bit challenging for new users to navigate the system.
How can dApps developers promote their apps?
Just like any other product or app, you need the right platform to market the dapps in order to achieve one's goal. For example, if you are promoting a dapp on a site like LinkedIn or blogs, it's useless but with the right platform and right influencers the dapp is going to be a success. Medias like Facebook, twitter, Instagram and many other most used social media might just be the perfect place to promote ones dapp considering the number of users and open minded people on the platforms.
Also advertising dapps on television seems promising when composed with the right features. that is the advert needs to attract the eye of the viewers on site, so one might start the advert with a common denominator in the viewers life in relation to the dapp being advertised which will most definitely catch the eye of the viewer hence promoting the dapp.
And also in creating an ad to promote on social media one might do well to use most loved and followed influencers to promote the dapp. because the reputation of the influencer alone can really impact the success of the dapp with the number of viewers who will take interest in it because it was posted by their favorite person.
What should we pay attention to when using dApps?
When using dapps, transactions cannot be reversed so therefore one needs to pay attention to details when making a transaction if not the assets are going to be lost forever.
We also need to protect our keys from getting missing or stolen by others, because anyone with your keys can have access into your account and can also transfer your assets and if the keys are also missing then your assets have still been lost because without those keys you cannot access your assets. so therefore you should pay very keen attention to your keys to avoid then getting missing, yo can even back the keys up into one's cloud account which you can access anytime.

Below are the steps to find information about a dapp that we want to know.
We first click on this Link to take use to the hompage of dapps site which look exactly like the screenshot below.
Next we click on the search button on the top right corner of the site as seen in the image below.
We then type in the name of the dapp we want to know about into the search box. In this case i typed "Steemit" as seen below.
After typing the name of the dapp in and clicking on the dapp it then displays all the information about that dapp for you to see as seen below.
