A lecture on LASER

Our proficient Professor Mr Rohail called us for an extra class at his home, becoz I john along with my group, didn't understand what he taught us in today's class. From the last hour we were waiting for Mr Rohail in this high roof hall illuminated with yellow light. All the interior looked like it was created early in some BC.

After waiting for another hour, Mr Rohail appeared with his bundle of books, which he place on a little side table. He set his white board and gave us a glance above his glasses. So we are going to read "LASER". He wrote it with his black marker. He spoke, in a voice like chewed his words under his teeth. Yes sir! We were all in high spirits. The full form of this acronym is "light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation". Mr Rohail wrote with a red marker instead of black. We underlined the point in our notes. First we read its definition, then basic working model, properties and its applications. He didn't tried to look at our faces.

Laser is a device which can produce an intense beam of coherent, monochromatic and directional light through amplification of light via stimulated emission. He wrote the full fledge definition on the white board and still we were seeing his back. Sir, what is monochromatic, Sir what is coherent, Sir what is stimulated emission? We all buzzed at a time. The professor turned back and said. Patience my child! patience! He drew four tiny arrows and wrote the words of monochromatic, coherent, intense beam and stimulated emission in front of arrow heads.

Then he picked a thin book from the table, turned a lot of pages and started to write again monochromatic light means that "the light beam consists of a single color".And its spectral bandwidth must be laid in a narrow region. Our morale started its downhill journey and with every second its speed was increasing. Mr Rohail picked the next word coherence. This is a unique property of laser which differentiates it from ordinary light. Actually, real power!

Sir How powerful is the laser? I cut his words. We read it in properties. I hardly listen his chewed voice. Can it cut a diamond? He turned back and put the cape on his marker.

Huh this speedy generation. He was saying and sat on his huge brown wing chair. Yes, my child laser is so powerful that it can cut a diamond with more sophistication and precession. But how can the laser be so strong, it is just light. The notorious back bencher Sara said in a mischievous voice. My poor child! If you want to understand it, first you allow me to cover the topic. He opened his marker and wanted to stand. Sir, can laser cut iron? This time Ali tried to test the patience of Mr Rohail. If a laser can cut diamond, the hardest thing in this world, it can obviously cut any metal. Mr Rohail grinded his words, which reflected his rising temper. I was in a struggle to control my laughter.

Sir, can I shape a ring with a laser for my girlfriend? Actually, I want to use platinum in it. David called his misery. Mr Rohail closed his eyes with his rising anger. I thought he may wanted to cool himself down. But when he opened his eyes, his eyes were horribly bloodshot red. My laughter was captured in my throat. With some clicking voices, Mr Rohail's skin turns into a machine's covering. He pushed a button near his eyes and an intense beam of monochromatic, coherent, directional light sprout from his eyes which pointed to the window and in a second lacerated it.

He turned to us and focused on me. All my group ran to the open door and in a moment they all were out. You provoked them, Mr Rohail's chewing voice changed in a husky roar. I shivered up to my soul. Sir ! Sir !.... I didn't find any words. In the meantime, he destroyed three chairs, fans, tables, the whiteboard, wall shelf and table on which he placed his books. I slowly moved backward. Sir, I didn't do anything. I seriously want to learn the damn "laser".

In a slow motion, I see him moving his hand to the button near his eyes. A beam emerged from his eyes and travelled to me. My legs didn't bear my weight due to increasing terror and I collapsed. The laser beam directly touched the mirror on the wall behind me and reflected back to professors' eyes. A horrible voice roared in the hall. And I understand another property of laser that it can be reflected through a mirror. Before the professor came into his senses, I ran to escape.
