It is fascinating how words appear to us: for-got-ten. For, destined to obtain, got, receive, or even possess a completed and fulfilled cycle, like the number ten.

Are these perhaps the sequences of phenomena that lead us, unconsciously or unknowingly, to slowly forget what we believe we have acquired forever?

A person, a love, a promise, or even our own identity.

As long as someone or something is missing from our lives, we keep it alive; when we think we have got it, we slowly stop looking at it, paying attention to it, and what is no longer considered begins, little by little, to disappear, forgotten.

I am not so sure if that's true. It might if it comes to items once achieved, hidden in the back of a closet, on the attack or if the memory gives up on you. If it comes to those we truly love the memory stays. And no, these are not necessary children or parents.

I understand what you mean, and I agree. I did not want to reduce this reflection to the people we truly love. I was thinking more about the risk of taking for granted what we believe will always be there. And perhaps we only realize it when that attention is no longer there: that is when one begins to feel forgotten.

I guess it is like in that song: A man only knows what he is missing if she is gone...
You believe that is natural? It happens to all of us?

Yes, I think it can happen to all of us — or at least to all those who still preserve a sense of humanity.

Maybe not in the same way, and not with the same intensity, but we all know what it means to realize the value of a presence only when it becomes an absence.

You mean men or all men? Inam not sure if humanity plays a role of it comes to missing someone, to miss the boat or being kicked out. 😐

Thanks for the song but I got it on my list. You switched on the translation?

I meant human beings. Maybe “humanity” was not the most suitable word. I meant sensitivity: the ability to feel absence, loss, or regret.

No, I had not switched on the translation, but I know the ending is sad.
