The Old Trumpet
Once upon a time, there was Jason, a little boy who loved music. He loved listening to music and singing along to his favorite songs. One day, he heard the sound of a trumpet and was fascinated by it. Following the music, he met an old man who played the trumpet under his porch.
Jason asked the old man if he could teach him how to play the trumpet. The old man agreed and started teaching the boy how to play.
Jason practiced every day and soon became very good at playing the trumpet. But he had no trumpet of his own and was forced to go to the old man every day.
One day he wanted to participate in a competition and asked to borrow the old man's trumpet. The old man refused, because that trumpet was his whole life. Jason promised he would bring it back soon and pay him back one day.
The old man then agreed, but reminded the boy that one day he would ask him to pay his debt.
Jason played at school concerts and even played at his church. Everyone was amazed at how well he played.
The old man was very proud of the boy and knew that he had taught him well. The boy was grateful to the old man for teaching him how to play the trumpet and for sharing his love of music with him.
And so, Jason continued to play the trumpet for many years, always remembering the old man who had taught him how to play. But happy with his success and his wealth, he decided that the time had come to return the trumpet to the old man and buy a new one.
Jason came home and started practicing for a concert, but his new trumpet didn't sound right, it was out of tune, and everyone laughed at him. He thought he couldn't show up at the concert like this.
He could not return the old trumpet and so he went back to the old man to offer him to buy it.
He found him sitting on the porch playing. He looked at him and smiled "I knew you'd be back".
The old man didn't want money, he wanted something much more valuable.
He wanted the remaining days of Jason's life so that he could be young again.
