Love

It's often told a man is real,
when his emotions he does not conceal.
It's never told why he must be
master of what he feels. You see?
It's often told a man reveals
his social value, when showing he feels.
It's never told his darkest space
is why emotions he should seldom embrace.
It's often told a man's toxic and
he'll hide emotion as if it's banned.
It's never told that danger awaits
when he opens those emotional gates!
It's often told a man must ignore
the danger he sees as his emotions soar!
It's never told that he's toxic because
he's showing his emotional flaws.
It's often told a man may shed tears...
that there's no shame in showing his fears.
It's never told that left unchecked,
he may become an emotional wreck!
It's often told that society cares,
and is deeply involved in how a man fares.
It's never told these emotional states
can leave a man in dire straits.
Love, it seems though, is the only emotion
to soothe his soul. It's his healing potion!
Isn't it similar when it comes to expectations of "real" women...? I think we're all still affected by stereotypes in some way. But I have hope: that could change... Thank you - a wonderful poem!
You're probably right. Glad you liked it. :)
