Why do we say "BELIEVE IN YOURSELF"

in Motivation Story3 years ago

We utter a lot of things that we don't really understand why we say them. "Believe in yourself" is one of them, in my opinion. It is difficult to comprehend this message if we do not understand what it means to believe in ourselves.

It's nice and peppery to tell someone they can believe in themselves, but it can also come across as ambiguous and difficult to buy. Maybe it's because it's difficult to understand what it means to believe in oneself. I'd say the phrase means "see yourself do it," with "it" being whatever you want in this case. Win gold, lose 10kg, develop a new routine, begin exercising, and stop smoking.

Whatever your "it" is, you must first see yourself performing the action - this sets the stage for your body, brain, and environment to manage your trust in yourself = your decision.

It will be extremely difficult to succeed before your inner vision will see you putting what you want into action. We need to mobilise our bodies and minds and make them function for us rather than against us, and visualisation is a great way to do so. If you "only" want something but don't believe you can achieve it, it will feel heavy and daunting, and you will most likely fail to reach your target.

If you want to be the first to cross the finish line, throw on a pair of smaller jeans or go to the gym. If you can see yourself without cigarettes or wearing gold around your neck, then go for it. If you can see it and sense it, you'll be able to put it into action.

There's also the issue of the climate to consider. And it's great to have those around who pepper us on the road to victory. A recent event in my social circle serves as a clear example of this. It's quick to say on Sunday morning, "I'll never drink again," only to return the following Friday and Saturday. This is more of a law than an exception, and how many people believe someone who says, "I'll never drink again."

One of my friends announced a few months ago that he will no longer drink alcohol. The difference was that he could now see himself doing this after several years of "I'll never drink again" Sundays. Imagine yourself without alcohol, and imagine yourself sober in conditions where alcohol was previously present. It was not difficult to trust her decision or to completely support it.

So the next time you want something and think to yourself, "wouldn't it be cool if one could...", imagine yourself doing exactly that. What was your reaction if you were able to see yourself accomplishing this? Did it seem bleak and difficult? Did it make you feel cool and enthralled? Is it entertaining and engaging? Feel for it because it sounds more positive than negative, so you're off to a good start.

It feels as though you've already arrived, and then the task is completed. Then inform yourself and as many people as you can about your decision. When you tell someone, you solidify your decision, and the job becomes a lot simpler when you have others to help you.

If you really want to accomplish something in your life, make sure that your inner vision is kind to you = that you believe in yourself - then you won't even have to struggle, and you'll be sailing to victory in no time.
