What do aliens look like? The clue is in evolution
Several science fiction films about space and aliens appear in cinemas every year. And this is not surprising, humanity has been looking at the stars for more than a hundred years and is trying to guess if there are other forms of life that are different or similar to us, and if there are, then how they look, what they think and what they want.
It is these films that are the main one for thinking about whether such life forms can exist.
Contrary to Hollywood blockbusters about aliens, scientists put forward their own options for how an alien guest should look like. Moreover, along the way, pundits explained why "xenos" cannot look like giant insects and why humanity is almost not threatened in case of "contact".
Aliens - who are they?
However, to begin with, let's talk about what often unites the “Hollywood” alien with the “scientist”. Many remember the Hollywood blockbuster "Independence Day", in which an alien invasion of Earth began. Before and after this film, aliens showed themselves extremely aggressively, wanting only one thing - the extermination of humanity as a species. This behavior of alien life forms is explained by researchers from the University of Missouri, who believe that aliens should be aggressive.
Aggression in a particular species guarantees that this species will adapt to environmental conditions as quickly as possible, makes it possible to climb to the top of the food chain and become the dominant form of life on the planet. However, this does not mean that theoretical aliens who will invade our planet with you will seek to destroy people, there is a much less pleasant prospect. According to researchers, if aliens are more intellectually developed than we are, then they will perceive us the way we perceive livestock.
In addition, it is worth carefully considering the scenario of "Columbus and America", in which the role of the Indians will have to be played by humanity. This is the point of view that the famous scientist Stephen Hawking adheres to, who believes that if aliens appear on our planet, it will only be because of the need for colonization or for the sake of mining.

But further we will focus on those places where "Hollywood" and the world of scientists disagree, and it is worth listening to the opinion of scientists at least for the sake of not indulging oneself with hope. Despite the fact that science fiction often contains stories about the extinction of aliens from terrestrial bacteria and viruses, scientists are in a hurry to destroy this myth.
According to the American astronomer (not to be confused with the astrologer) Seth Shostak, bacteria are limited to the life forms they belong to. The thing is that terrestrial microbes developed directly in our environment and survive in our DNA. Try to remember how often you saw a dog with the flu? The correct answer is never. Therefore, the "War of the Worlds" by H.G. Wells most likely will not happen.
It is also unlikely that we will be consumed as food. Scientists explain this by the fact that a civilization that is so developed that it makes interstellar flights is already sufficiently developed, and therefore they know how to get their own food. It is far from the fact that a creature that evolved somewhere on another planet will have a digestive system similar to ours. So if the aliens will feed on something, then it is unlikely that we, and perhaps even hardly the nutritious resources that our planet possesses.
Now let's talk about what aliens look like, or more precisely, how they can and how they cannot look. Despite the fact that science fiction films very often paint aliens as giant insects (and they are usually very similar to those that exist on our planet in the "mini-version"), in reality this is hardly possible. The fact is that the structure of the organism of insects can function only if its body is small. This is due to the lack of blood in insects, and therefore, it is not possible to get enough oxygen from the atmosphere. Therefore, the myth of the huge insects has been destroyed.
However, it is even more common to see or read that aliens can look like humanoids. Is it so? After all, a person has a similar appearance only thanks to the specific environment to which our species has adapted over many millennia. We believe that the presence of hands and fingers is necessary for manipulating objects, and at the same time we completely forget that creatures developing on the other side of our universe may have nothing to do with us. And the representation of aliens as humanoids or various kinds of insects is nothing more than a game of our imagination, because the human brain is unable to create something that it has never seen. The most that our imagination is capable of is compilation.
Along with the mystery about the appearance of aliens, scientists cannot say for sure about how the aliens communicate with each other. The fact that some form of communication must be present is indisputable, but how communication can occur is a mystery. Perhaps, in their environment there is no way to transmit sound waves by the method that we use, and therefore, there can be many options, ranging from vibration to telepathy.
One way or another, all these are just guesses of enthusiasts and scientists. Therefore, it makes no sense to talk about this in all seriousness, but it is also impossible to leave this issue outside the field of your interests. Who knows, maybe someday such knowledge will be useful to us. In the meantime, this topic remains outside the framework of serious scientific research, especially since we have not yet found the subject of research. We continue to gaze at the stars and hope.
