Understanding the Functions of Lungs

in HeartSTEM3 years ago (edited)

Lungs is what we have been hearing and conversant of daily but most time we didn't even know what our lungs always do talkless of even knowing the importance of lungs to us.

What is The Lungs??

The lungs contain thousands of thin tubes with a collection of tiny air sacs (alveoli) at the ends. Each of these sacs is covered with blood vessels connected to a venous and venous system, which carry blood throughout the body.

Once there is enough oxygen in the blood without carbon dioxide, it returns to the heart and is pumped to other parts of the body.

What are the jobs of Lungs??

.Your lungs are part of the respiratory system. The most important job of the lungs and respiratory system is to supply oxygen to your body and to expel wastes, such as carbon dioxide, from your body. It happens when you breathe.

This process is called breathing. Your lungs carry oxygen from the air to your blood.

It also absorbs carbon dioxide from cells and returns it to the lungs. During the exhalation, carbon dioxide is expelled from the lungs and the body.

Breathing is automatic. When you need more or less, your body will adjust to the oxygen.

The lungs do more than excrete oxygen and carbon dioxide from the body. They also act as filters. Mucus in the lungs absorbs and traps dust, bacteria, and other things that enter the lungs. If you cough, sneeze, or clear your throat, push this substance out of your body.

The number of times you inhale and exhale each minute depends on your age and the work you do. At rest, an adult person breathes 12 to 20 times per minute, or 17,000 to 30,000 times per day! When you inhale and exhale your lungs, you can train from several gallons per minute to over 100 gallons per minute.

The lungs take oxygen from the air you breathe and carry it through the bloodstream until it reaches all parts of the body. When the cells in your body work, they produce carbon dioxide, an exhaust gas that enters your bloodstream.

It removes these waste gases from your respiratory lungs. Your lungs fill your chest and sit on either side of your heart. LungsIncludes Lobes - Your right lung has three livers and your left lung has two.

The airways - also called the lungs - carry air through your lungs and back when you breathe in. The airways are divided into bronchi. It will be split into smaller and smaller airlines.

It is often called the bronchial tree. At the end of these airways are small air sacs called alveoli. This is where gas exchange takes place. Under a microscope, the inside of your lungs looks like a huge sponge. Plura surrounds your lungs and the inside of your ribs.

The liner is a thin transparent layer called the intima. When inhaling, there are two layers on the outside of the lungs which allow the chest to glide smoothly. The space between the two layers is called globules and usually contains a small amount of fluid. This fluid lubricates both sides and moves your lungs and chest wall as you inhale and exhale.

Finally

We have been able to establish what lungs do and the various works that longs do in our body and we have been able to know the various job also and also some part of our body that works in hand in carrying out the functions of lungs in our body

The lungs perform an important role in maintaining homeostasis in the body.

One of the most important part of our body is the lungs and though most people doesn't always know about the function but this is an eye opener.

Thanks for sharing

In human body, we have so many types of organs which serve and helps in regulating the smooth functioning of the body system and lungs is definitely one of them
