Featheredfriends
Hello Steemians
Welcome to the excellent #featheredfriends with thanks

Goldeneye
This female goldeneye is easy to identify. Brown head, grey body and a
spot of yellow on the end of it's beak.
You can also hear them from a distance due to ......
their wings making a whistling sound as they fly.
They nest in tree cavities, sometimes as high as 40' above....
ground. They leave the nest a day after hatching and make the
long drop to the forest floor, and can forage for themselves, only relying
on protection from the parents.
I didn't know they nest in trees! Sounds like the ducklings are resourceful little guys. They must bounce pretty well, too! Thanks for posting to #featheredfriends ❤️ !Tip
I had to read it twice... those little guys are durable.. lol

I occasionally have wood ducks that nest in the trees around the spring. I thought they were unique, and did not know there were other ducks that did that, too! It is so funny to see a duck sitting high up in a tree!

Howdy sir karbon! They drop out of the nest after one day? Dang, that's getting a fast start! Very interesting and I see they like the cold weather.
