WE LOST ONE OFF OUR FEATHERED FRIENDS YESTERDAY! Yes the worst thing in a child’s life happened for the first time. We lost one off little D’s ducks in a car accident.

Here we go again. I have done over 670 - 4 o’clocky’s *- My signature daily blog ! I know alot of you read it and that gives me the drive to be in your life with My thoughts and ideas every day. About 2 years ago I’ve written about the ‘best’ time to submit a blogpost so you’ll receive worldwide exposure. I came up with the term 4 o'clocky and I thought this might be a great idea to make a blogpost every day at 4 o'clock local time with this title. Every day I’ll submit a blogpost about something that keeps me busy, a challange, a contest or something important enough to share so Lets blog on and See you every day here at 4 !

This is My 4 o’clocky for today:

For the people who don’t know me or my blogs we have kids and one of my sons ‘adopted’ 11 ducks about a year ago. Their mother died in an accident by a car and today the same happend to GREY.grey is in the picture above and he was very sweet according to D.

This morning io got a call that there was a white duck near our house and it was along side of the road dead. I immediately new that the news wasn’t good and that the chance that it would be one of ours was big, because only we have ducks that are partially white. I went and took a paper and a plastic bag, and prepared myself for a bad crime scene.

I saw a lot of white feathers in the grass and there he was : d’s GREY...... he was intact and not with any blood. THANK GOD for that. I know they cross the streets without looking out for cars of any other mother vehicles. When i picked him up he was stiff and that meant that it happend the night before when all of the Netherlands were covered in fog. Yes, Very heavy fog must have been the reason for his death. I picked him up and saw a very beautiful feather pack and was sad for him and that i had to tell the bad news to D. We are so attached to the feathered family but in the beginning they are really his friends. Its the first thing he does when he comes downstairs every morning. He cuddles the dogs and than goes outside to make porridge. GREY was a heavy duck, i was thinking while walking home, all because of the good care. And we like to learn the kids responsibility and that worked out really well in this and all the other 10 ducks case.

I put the paper bags on a chair besides the house and decided to ask my husband if I should tell D, after losing my father in law just a few months back i was hesitant. We agreed to see, but when D came home the others were in the pond and he immediately said : Mum GREY is not here! And i said give the others some food and come inside I will make some tea before we have to leave for practice. He did and we sat at the table, when i told him the band and sad news. He is devastated and wanted to see if i was really right, we talked and tried to reconstruct what happened and even showed the rest off the group Grey, i dont know but he wanted that and i thought it was very considerate. He is a fine, sweet and loving boy! He is hurt and wishes it didnt happen but we explained that life is full of surprises good and bad and this was one of the bad. He is still sad but we will print out a picture and focus on the others.

This is also life for a young boy, dealing with loss, and the fact that animals die. He is determined to look after these 10 aswell even wanted them in a cage. We will see what the feathered future will bring, and i hope that all the others will watch left and right before they cross the street from now on, but he thats me as a mum......
