I really love moving around my Google maps, seeing place and structures, it has kept me in line and with my data, network and maps app I will always find my way. I am glad to take part in this spatial analysis by our teacher.

Since I missed the last class, i had to go learn more about it in the previous lesson to have more knowledge about what we are about to do. The app being used for the lesson is UTM Geo app, I headed to my play store and I installed the app.

Moving around many features (since I am already exposed to maps), I found many nice locations and places I have visited, checking the distance from my home. Using the satellite layer I was able to have a real time image of the structures.

In the course of the lesson, I had to restart the app and move over to area and distance, since we will be looking more about spatial analysis.

Go anywhere you want: River, square, mall, park, residential area or any place you want and:

I went down to where my location was but I had a place in mind to draw my polygon, which is the international Stadium in my state, this stadium has hosted many football matches, like some of the world cup qualifying matches, Nigeria league games, international friendlies and so on. I quickly hovered my cursor to where the stadium was located.

I clicked the polygon tool as I made 7 points on the stadium which formed a nice polygon shape on my stadium.

The total area of the polygon is 40,902.947 m²to show how big the stadium is in real life. The place the stadium is situated is a coded commercial hub in my city. I made trails to make tracks of the main roads around the stadium, the roads there are very clean and smooth with vast lanes.

I took point around the stadium main and sub roads which one could simply take round the stadium and I changed the measuring unit to kilometers, I wanted something different and it seems I understand distances in kilometers better. The road was just 2.79 km round the Stadium,

Everything looked nice but I had to change to my own taste, the colors were green which was fading to the eyes, I changed it to red color which is now more visible. It had continuous lines but I changed it to dash and then Dots, I made the width of the lines thicker so it becomes so visible when I zoom out.

Everything went on well and perfect just as our teacher taught, I was happy to know how to tour easily using the polygon and line tools. I decided to create a buffer by using the line path I created, this was quite simple as I clicked on the line I drew and I clicked on the Gis tools, I moved to create buffer.

An option came up on the distance of the buffer I want to create, I simply used 200 meters and I accepted, automatically the buffer was created around the stadium from the line path, this buffer can help know more about the area in terms of many features like road networks, Topography and so on.

I have successfully created my buffer and this is how nice it looks.

Why did you choose that place and what things are around it?

I made this choice because of how nice and important this structure is to the state, it has added beauty, exposure and more economic importance to the state and country. The stadium is enclosed by beautiful structures like houses, good road networks and a nice double overhead bridge. when I made use of the road then when the stadium was still in construction, I saw how nice the whole features look.

There are malls close and hotels which the away teams will make use when they come for matches.

Is it easy to get there? How can you access it?

My state has a very good road network, this stadium is also located in the heart of the state, and it is Accessible through many good road networks, four lanes, double lanes and overhead bridges.

To get there as an away team, you will just come from the airport, straight down using a four laned road, it is just some kilometers away, which you'll will then take the left turn through the first round you meet. The next road is also a four lanes path, almost every road that will lead you quickly to the stadium has four lanes which reduces traffic and it is easily accessible.

Looking at the buffer you created, how would you define its area of influence? That is, is it a good commercial or residential area? Is it close to an area with vegetation? Is it a busy area?

It is not an area with vegetation, the stadium alone will tell you business. The business a person can venture into in such an area is an Hotel business, a lodge, an eatery and so on. This kind of businesses will boom. When many spectators from all over the country comes to watch, they won't come and go that same day, so the options of hotels and lodges comes in.
