SLC S21W2/ Physical Activities for Child Development

Greetings and welcome to my blog. Today is a day of fun with children and having physical activities with them. These are very helpful to their development and has immense health benefits.

So I visited my big brothers house and my niece Tehila was excited to see big Aunty again and I invited her to have some fun physical activities with me. Her excited was prolific, children loves to play indeed. She’s ten years old.

Invite one or more children between 4 and 12 years old to do physical activities together. Select a specific activity and do it with them. What type of physical activity did they select, what is it about?

Tehila my niece and I had some activities to choose from which was Aerobic physical activities like the teacher taught us.

We had a ball at home and she loved to play bounce ball with the ball, so she had some time playing bounce the ball and it helped to put her in the mood for the real deal.

From indoors we proceeded to our door aerobic activities. We did some running, walking and knee tap jogging and virtual skipping cos we didn’t have a skipping rope.

We had with us the family help to take a video of us while we had fun with the physical activities and she was helpful.

When we finished, we rested for the evening and then had some ice cream. Since domestic activities was listed as one of the ways to bind with kids and have fun, I decided to have her do the dishes.

Ordinarily I would have washed the plates we used in scooping our ice cream but I asked her to do it and she did. Her hands couldn’t reach the washing skin hence she had to climb a paint bucket to be able to do the dishes while I supervised her. It was fun.

What changes did you observe in the children during and after the activity? Do you think they used up all their energy?

I think children are more energetic than some of us adults. Hahahaha. I was already tired and gasping for air but she wanted more of the exercises. Children and playing. Her energy didn’t seem to be spent.

She was a little tired but seemed to have more energy and wanted to go for more. I had to put some leash on that energy, hahaha.

Do you think that, in addition to exercising, the children had fun?

Yes, she had lots of fun. She was literally the one dragging me for more. She loved it so much. She enjoyed the running part and the part were we had to do a fast walk and especially the knee tap jogging in the spot and the virtual skipping. I could see the literal joy in her voice as she was squealing in delight.

Tell us about your experiences doing this physical activity.

Personally it’s been a while since I exercised and I was glad I could be a part of the exercise. I participated in all part from the ball bounce. I was energized and felt some relive from the exercise. Funny enough I was having a slight headache before we started but I noticed the headache left after the exercise, the exercise helped my blood circulation.
