Welcome once again to another Technology class by @prolee. This time around I'll be dealing on Concept of Biometrics as security.

Biometrics

The traditional kind of technological security which implies using Password to unlock a device can be unreliable since your device can be unsafe if your password is known by someone else. This has been a challenge before now but currently such issue has been solved using the Biometric security system as a better alternative.

Biometrics are simply those biological, physical and behavioural features that can be use to characterize someone. When all of these features are used for security purposes, it's termed as Biometric security system. For example facial recognition, eye or retina scanning, also fingerprint are all examples of Biometric security system.

The scientists researched out that the sitting posture, standing posture and even the shape of ones ear can be a unique feature of someone, hence they can serve as Biometric technology functionalities.

Forms of Biometrics security system

There are other applications of Biometrics but it has often been used in this current age for security. And they can be phased into the below types;

• Morphological Biometrics : this kind explains more of one's physical feature. It can be the usage of facial structure, fingerprint print or body shape for security purposes.

• Biological Biometrics : explains more about traits and hereditary which concerns one DNA or blood. This kind can be acquired perhaps by a scanner too.

• Behavioural Biometrics : as the name implies it concerns a persons attitude or pattern of doing something. For example, how someone talk, how a person walk, all of this can be sensitive for security purpose.

How Does Biometrics Security Work?

Biometric security works in a kind of pattern. Since most of the biometrical features of someone can be unique even to the extent of a twin then it can be used as a great security function.

With that great sensitivity of biometrics then it can at least do a great work for us by replacing a password with it in our devices like Computer, phone e.t.c

When the biometric security pattern like fingerprint or facial recognition is been captured it's saved within the device or in a remote server so that when we make attempt in unlocking that device in discussion it'll recognize it and responds positively.

Conclusion

With the aid of a hardware component, Biometric Scanners the device can capture a biometric for verification. If the attempted biometrics doesn't match with the already saved biometrics security then that device won't unlock and otherwise if it's matches it.
