Hello dear friends, hope you are all doing well. A new season of engagement challenges is live now. Today I choose to participate in the task set by Urdu-community which is about Steemit and other social media platforms. Let's begin :

The social media platform that I use most is Twitter. I have accounts on other social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, LinkedIn etc. But as for usage is concerned, I occasionally use these social media platforms.

Whether a particular social media platform is beneficial for you or not, depends upon how you use that platform and for what purpose. Every platform has its pros and cons. As for Twitter is concerned, I use it only for information purposes. All the renowned personalities of the world are there and I follow people from fields that I am interested in. For example, as I am interested in politics I follow all the great politicians and news channels of my nation and those of international recognition too. In this manner, I remain up to date with all the major events or news that is there. Similarly, I follow the majority of the crypto enthusiasts and crypto news channels too. It keeps me updated with all the major crypto-related news, events and sentiment of the market.

As for Steemit is concerned, I strongly believe that spending more time on steemit is beneficial for me and would help me grow in my life because Steemit values our time by rewarding quality content. Therefore, Steemit provides me financial support. In addition, Steemit also promotes learning on various subjects like cryptocurrencies, robotics, health, music, art, photography etc. Other benefits of Steemit will be clear in the subsequent section when the comparison will be done.

For the sake of comparison between different social media platforms, let me take an example of a centralised social media platform like Facebook and compare it with a decentralised platform like Steemit. So it would be Facebook Vs Steemit. All the centralised platforms will be brought into comparison by taking Facebook as a prototype and similarly decentralised platforms would follow the prototype as Steemit.

Advantages of Steemit over other social media

  • Steemit being a decentralised platform is more secure than any centralised platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc.

  • Steemit rewards its users in the form of Steem/SBD and TRON for creating and curating content contrary to Facebook where there is no reward mechanism for posts unless you monetise through advertisements etc. For posts shared by users, there is no reward per se.

  • On Steemit absolute control is vested by the user and not by any third party whereas on other social media platforms the company that owns that platform has absolute authority over it.

  • Content created on Steemit remains online forever. At the forefront, we can edit our posts but at the backend, the record remains forever. However, on other social media platforms, the owner company can delete any content published by the user without the consent of the user.

  • Steemit promote learning on a diverse range of topics. By using desired tags, the bulk of content can be found to curate /study/learn. Such selection is not possible on Facebook.

  • Decentralised platforms don't demand to share any sensitive content. Even if some information like a phone number or email is shared with decentralised plateforms like an estimate that's not being shared with any third party. Centralised platforms demand sharing of sensitive information and that information is shared with other platforms owned by the company. For example, Facebook is in partnership with many other companies like WhatsApp, Amazon etc shares our data with them too without our consent. It can be understood by taking an example when you search for some products on Amazon, that product comes on Facebook too. It is becoming possible because Facebook is sharing your data with amazon too. Such unauthorised data sharing is not known on steemit.

Disadvantages of STEEMIT.

  • As for communication with other people is concerned, Facebook or other centralised platforms are better than Steemit. Let me explain it. On Facebook, we can chat with someone in our inbox which is not the case on steemit.

  • Steemit being decentralised is so much transparent that anyone can view your profile. Facebook allows you to lock your profile and restrict access to your content.

  • Centralised platforms in addition to blogging serve another purpose like sharing news, and advertisements (business, political, social etc) etc as well.

Conclusion

Steemit being a decentralised social media platform offers certain advantages over other social media platforms with a centralised governance model. We know that nothing is perfect, so in certain aspects, other platforms offer certain features better than Steemit but the overall performance of Steemit is undoubtedly better than other platforms.

Yes because steemit has its own blockchain and all the data is saved on its blockchain. If once you uploded any content then it would be impossible for us to remove data from blockchain.

Your article is very good and have a good quality. Thanks for sharing with us.

Yes you pointed it right that blockchains are non-editable.

Thanks

Nice information.
Good luck with the contest!

Thanks for your kind review . However , 1/2 for club5050 seems dubious because club100 is not mandatory.

Is there any other decentralised platform like Steemit that rewards users .

I have gone through your post . You have written a very good quality post .

Yes we have Hive as well . Hive has similar working algorithm as Steemit .

Thanks

As of now Steemit doesn't reward all users . That's another Disadvantage .

Actually the number of content creators has exceeded and to give upvotes to each of them is not possible as for the voting strength renewal mechanism of steemit is concerned. We know that, in 24 hours only 20% of the voting strength is replenished and casting vote at full deplets voting power by 2%. By that mechanism, a curator can only cast 10 votes in 24 hours. However curators have huge steem powe, r that's why they do not need to vote with full strength but still the number of content creators has increase d many fold . So it's not possible to guarantee upvotes.

Thanks

Steemit is a decentralized platform. Steemit has more security than other social media. Although many of us use a lot of social media. But by using Steemit we can get a lot of Phoenician support we can increase the quality of our writing and also we can gain knowledge about many more things which Steemit platform has given us opportunity.

Yes, you are right . Thanks for taking your time to go through my post .
