Steem SEA Contest (Part 46th): Photography Contest- Acts of Kindness | Giving Rice To Fishermen @jufranketchup
Greetings in Peace to all Steemians all over the world! I hope you are safe today despite of this global pandemic and typhoon Jolina here in the Philippines.
Even if there is a typhoon here in our place, we did not make excuses to help those people who needs a helping hand. We did our best even the weather does not cooperate us for today's act.
Lately in the morning at around 8:00 o'clock, we the young adult, conducted a community service but not on land, but in the sea. Because we want to reach and give help to the fishermen because we all know that their job is not an easy thing. Small fishermen here in our place does not have any government support or salary. Rain or shine they are above in the see to look for food for their families and sometimes when they catch too much they drop into the market to sell so that they can buy a rice because we Filipinos became known for our habit for eating rice.
But before we start our community service, as a Filipino we do a spirit of civic unity, we helped together to carry the heavy rubber boat and put in the sea. We were also preparing before we on board by wearing a life jacket for safety purposes because the wind is strong.
As we go on board, I paddle the boat to get to the high water and start the engine.
We will go where the fishermen stand by as they are waiting to catch fish. We pull their pump boat or small boat using the paddle to come to us because the waves are strong.
And as we were close to them they are felt nervous as we observed because we had the police with us and they think that the police will apprehend them but, as we approached to them and gave them 5 kilos of rice they are all thankful and happy.
According to one Kuya fisherman, When there is a storm, they catch very few fish, and sometimes they going home without fish to bring in their family and as he added "he is so much thankful because help reached them even when they were at sea."
We reached out to them with a simple and little help but from the heart. Almost 20 fishermen we have been given 5 kilos of rice lately and we promised them in our next giving we will give them an additional food packs and canned goods for them.
Before I end my article, I want to thank the contest team leader @nazarul and his assistants @anroja, @herimukti, @el-nailul, and @radjasalman. More power to all of you.
