The Diary Game Betterlife December 28, 2021/The Aftermath:Typhoon Odette Edition
Just got connected!
Yes, it's been 12 days since the onslaught of Typhoon Odette, yet network signals are still unavailable in some areas.
In my 38 years, I have had many experiences with typhoon. But Odette is one that's unforgettable. Why? Because it was my children's first time to witness how a typhoon works and how it could possibly ruin lives and properties. My heart breaks at their every cry and shout of fear. While trying to comfort them, an uprooted tree hit one of our rooms which caused all the more panic and cries. It was a very traumatic experience for them. Thankfully, no one got hurt and no serious damage was done. From there, no one dared to sleep. Everyone waited for the wind to subside.
The next morning, we were greeted by these depressing scenes.
Our small pigpen was destroyed. Thankfully, all 6 pigs were alive and unharmed. Our lamppost was damaged, surrounding was full of debris and a lot of fallen trees can be seen.
My heart breaks for my cousin whose house was totally damaged. The wind mercilessly took off its roof.
Everyone was in real shock. We did not expect Typhoon Odette to be that strong. Moreso, we were not prepared for the gravity of its effects and damages. We were literally caught off guard. Yet, life must go on. What's important is that there were no casualties in the area.
Two days after, scarcity of drinking water was felt by everyone. Since there is no electricity, a lot of water refilling stations were closed. People were tolerating the scorching heat of the sun just to buy water which is way too expensive than the original price. But who cares?
Looking around, I realized that life is important to just sit down and relax. We need to work and be prepared for whatever is thrown to us in the future. Who would have thought this family will lose their shelter in just a span of 2 hours? Surely, we can never really tell what's gonna happen, but it's a different story when you are prepared.
That's all for today. Until my next connection.
See you around.
As always,
@jonabeth
