Land Pollution in Aba Town

Pollution refers to any unpleasant change of the environment due to addition of refuse, sewage or other forms of wastes. It is generally due to the activities of man.

Types of pollution includes: water pollution, air pollution, noise pollution and land (soil) pollution.

Land pollution can therefore be defined as the dumping of rubbish (refuse) and chemicals on land by man which causes harm to both plants and animals as well as man himself.

Improper dumping of wastes blocks waterways which in turn causes flooding, erosion and bad road conditions

There's a designated place for dumping of rubbish or dirts in virtually all the communities in Aba, so it is always advisable to dispose refuse at the designated areas.

Improper dumping of dirts can cause disease outbreak because the rubbish serves as the breeding ground of vectors of diseases such as typhoid, cholera and malaria

It also causes general untidiness of a particular place or community.

Environmental Sanitation is one way we can keep our surroundings clean.
As advocates of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), we usually carryout environmental sanitation exercise every last Saturday of the month. This way, we make people aware of the need to keep the planet earth clean and conducive for survival.

Conclusion:

• It is very important for us to learn how to properly dump our dirts or refuse
• Dumping of garbage should be done at the designated areas
• Disposal of garbage in or along waterways is wrong
• Let's protect our environment by properly adhering to environmental laws

Do not burn substances that release carbon into the sky. Reduce carbon emissions into the atmosphere. Do not buy synthetic materials (e.g. bags). Use eco-friendly bags.
