Another Food Distribution and PromoSteem In a Poor Community Was Made Possible By Steemit Support

in Steem SEA3 years ago

It was another wonderful day for me and the rest of my family because we are able to serve again the community that we know needs help from time to time. Especially those with a lot of kids and in a low income family. We just can't stop helping them knowing that they are in need while we are so much blessed and with all your support. All our family's charity activities even without steemit before was now made so much possible because we can do it once a week or at least three (3) times in a month.

What is a Community Pantry?
Community Pantry is trending now in my country, Philippines. This is a unique way of helping individuals or families in need for a certain day or certain meal of the day. The recipient has to pick or get something on the table that he needs for a certain meal of the day. It is also a practice to be honest and learn to share what's on the table to others.

Most of the community pantries I have observe is that, some people with more than what they have at home will share any goods on the table and the people in need will take some that will help them survive on that day or certain time. A way of sharing and learning to love others in times of difficulties.

How We Did Our Community Pantry?
Me, @steemitcebu, @jufranketchup @sweetspicy made a twist in conducting our pantry. We name it Steemit Community Pantry because it won't be made possible without the help of the platform and the members of the community.

Instead our recipients will just pick and pick... we opted to have them pick a menu and just give them all the ingredients needed to cook the food. This way, we can control the availability of our goods. they were instructed as well, if they need more because they have a lot of kids at home, we gave them extra of what they need.

The menu above was the one I cut and fold and they picked what they will bring home. It was kinda exciting for them just like kids during parties, excited to open gifts... hehe, kidding aside but we have seen they are happy. We also bought a sack of rice (50 kilos) to give and again they were told that if they still have rice and don't need much this time, we would want them to give to those in need.

I think this way is we are helping this people to care as well towards others and not hoarding things for themselves. Some parents ask for a kilo of rice and others we sent 2 kilos each especially the family with a son in the hospital and the father was not able to go to work because he has to attend the needs of the child in the center.

Our Helping Hands
As usual, our family is always in joy preparing and helping us with packing, gathering people, and instructing them to wear face mask when coming in. A lot followed the health protocols but others didn't, sometimes just hard to tell adults what to do. But that's okay, sometimes I am like them, not following rules... haha!

We have Mama, my sister and uncle who are with a smile in helping us.

We are able to serve 29 families with canned goods, different types of noodles, vegetables, spices, cooking oil, coffee, sugar, salt, spice granules, eggs and rice. Among these goods we still have some extra left for the next schedule. we supposed to do it twice this week but unluckily we were not able to bet good vegetables and cheaper vegetables in the market. We hope to do it twice a week (Tuesday and Friday).

After me giving birth hopefully this month, me, the baby and my husband will stay for a month at Mama's house, this way we could be assisted as well with our needs as new parents. For sure our fellow steemians in my family will continue what we have started.

We will be making sure that the kids will get their snacks because a lot of them was waiting outside the house hoping they could have for them but sad to say we were not able to prepare for them. The family feel bad about it...we supposed to buy bread at the nearby bakeshop but the rain starts pouring.

Some of the Recipients

We asked them to right their names for references as to how many we have served and to improve what is lacking on that day. We have 29 families all in all according to the record.

Aside from food distribution, I was able to introduce steemit to them. Unluckily most of the recipients doesn't have android phone and they are not familiar using the internet. Only three of them (young adults) has an android phone and I was able to give them pamphlets and give simple instructions on what to do. They were encouraged as well to ask me or any of the family that is a member of the platform to help them understand better.

Even though a lot of them has difficulty or can't join us but they know how this platform, steemit helps them and looking after their welfare.

Once again, thank you everyone for making this all possible for us to continue our family's goal. We really can't do this often without you all.

@stephehenkendal Sir, I would love do the #steemparty for the kids in our community. Me and the rest of steemians in my family will plan for it. Thank you for the wonderful idea we could do for the children we have here.

Always striving to do better in life,

Very happy to see what you are doing, it is so nice when you can do something for those in need and you promote steem with your act as well @georgie84.

Thank you very much for your appreciation it makes me feel so good 🙂.
After giving birth maybe this week, me and my husband can do more. But as of this time baby keeps on kicking and I think she wants to come out soon😁.
Our family members are also enjoying helping those in need.
Just unfortunate that most of the neighbors at Mama's does not have android phones and they aren't familiar with using internet. But for sure they know what our platform does to the community.

Thank you so much once again!❤️

This is an excellent project and an excellent example of Steem working in the community.

Hope this upvote will allow you to keep doing more.

Thank you

This is a great program, as is our activity at @steem.amal
They really need our helping hand, and the presence of a program like this is a form of concern for the limitations they experience

Thank you very much for supporting kinda acts of kindness, love to see more people are able to get something they need most @steemcurator01

my best regards

Thank you very much for the all time support.
Whenever I give birth this week, my family, also steemians already made a plan. We will continue the steemit community pantry and also me and @steemitcebu are going to support the outreach program of our fellow steemians going back to a small island in our hometown.
Even though my movements and activities are restricted after giving birth but with the extra amount you gave will still go along way. Thank you so much! May you be blessed with whatever your heart desires.❤️

Thank you and hope all goes well with the coming new baby.
