The Lhokseumawe City Bawaslu held a socialization about the Participatory Supervision Citizens Forum (Formatif) in Kampung Jawa Lhokseumawe Village, Banda Sakti District, Lhokseumawe City, Thursday (10/10/2024). Residents enthusiastically welcomed the presence of Formative and hoped to contribute to increasing the insight of residents, especially the younger generation, in the field of elections and democracy.

This was conveyed by residents in a meeting with the Lhokseumawe City Bawaslu at the Kampung Jawa Lhokseumawe Library in the Syuhada Mosque complex, Thursday afternoon.

"We welcome the Lhokseumawe City Bawaslu positively choosing Kampung Jawa as the location for the formation of Formative. Hopefully this will be an opportunity for residents, especially the younger generation, to gain additional knowledge about election and regional election supervision," hoped the Secretary of Kampung Jawa Lhokseumawe Village, Zulfikar.

Meanwhile, the Head of Tuha Peut Kampung Jawa Lhokseumawe, Dedi, questioned the identity of residents involved in Formatif so that they could be safe and comfortable when carrying out participatory supervision duties. "So, they are more comfortable working," said Dedi.

The Head of Bawaslu Lhokseumawe City, Dedy Syahputra, said that Formatif was formed in Kampung Jawa Lhokseumawe based on several considerations. First, the number of voters is large and very heterogeneous. "The number of voters in the 2024 Election was up to 19 TPS (Polling Stations), plus there was one special TPS in the prison," he said.

In addition, the election in Kampung Jawa Lhokseumawe was very dynamic and the level of community participation was very high. "The Keuchik and village officials are also very supportive. That was our consideration in forming Formatif," said Dedy.

Previously, in a meeting with the Keuchik of Kampung Jawa Lhokseumawe, Samsul Bahri, and the Camat of Banda Sakti, Yuswardi, MSM, supported the formation of Formatif. "This will be an opportunity for residents to participate in supervising the regional election process," hoped Samsul.

Meanwhile, the Coordinator of the Legal, Prevention, Community Participation, and Public Relations Division of the Lhokseumawe City Bawaslu, Ayi Jufridar, said that the formation of Formatif volunteers is expected to receive support from the Lhokseumawe City Forkopimda, in addition to local residents.

"This is in accordance with Bawaslu Regulation Number 2 of 2023 which encourages the community to be proactive in carrying out supervision," he said in a meeting attended by the Coordinator for Handling Violations and Disputes of the Lhokseumawe City Bawaslu, Yuli Asbar. From the residents, the tuaha peut, hamlet heads, youth, and community leaders of Kampung Jawa Lhokseumawe were also present.

Ayi hopes that residents can prepare a Formative management structure so that it can be confirmed during October or at least early November 2024 in accordance with the target of the Lhokseumawe City Bawaslu.[]
