The Diary Game| May 9, 2022| "My Task in this National and Local Election Day"

A new day full of hope my dear steemian friends!

Today is National and Local Election Day here in our country, Philippines.
As part of my duty as a Filipino, I woke up early at 3:00 in the morning, so I can report to school before 5:00, because some of us, teachers are also the one who will serve as the electoral board this day.

On my part, I am just a “support staff” of our school head in our school. It is not really a big task compared to those three; like chairman, poll clerk or a third member, they even arrived at 1:00 a.m. in school . But I made sure that I can arrive early to the school where I will be serving.

At exactly 4:30 a.m., I arrived to my assigned precinct. So glad, that today is declared a non-working day for both public and private sectors, my husband accompanied me to our school after we voted. It is only a 30-minute motorcycle ride from our place to our school.

At the entrance gate, we check the voters’ temperature and let them do their own safety precaution as part of safety health protocols since we cannot avoid that Covid virus is still present nowadays. There are also policemen who keep peace and safety for this very special day.

We also guided them to those who cannot find their polling precincts through our information in charge when voting started at 6:00 a.m.
Our main task for this special day, is to assist the elderly specially those persons with disability that they should be given priority in voting, specially for those who have difficulty in going up the stairs.

I also exercise my right to vote. I went out at 9:30 after I asked permission from our head, since we serve the election, we are also given priority that I went back here at 10:15.

As of this time that I am writing, most of the voters are already in their assigned areas, so I just sat at our office’s front door and observing the coming in and going out of the people. There were no more elderly that I guided.
Waiting as well to go home by 7:00 p.m.

Praying and hoping that this election would end up smoothly without any disturbances, aside from that, the candidates who will soon become leaders will have an enlighten minds for the sake of the people.
