Nintendo Switch - Over three years in the gaming industry

In March 2017 one of the consoles that had the most expectations and rumors in those years would be launched, the currently famous Nintendo Swich, a hybrid that surprised everyone due to its innovation, which received both positive and negative comments from the community.

It has been more than 3 years since it saw the light in the video game industry, from day one it would face a complicated task, recovering the market from the disaster that was the Wii U, remember that this console was a commercial failure for Nintendo, which had only 13 million units sold in 7 years.

However, the impact it had in the first year was very relevant, exceeding the expectations of many people who criticized it at the time of its launch. Despite not being a console with graphic power compared to the competition, it shows through its small screen that it is not necessary to have so many graphics to entertain a gamer.

Thanks to the popularity that took the Switch during its first year, many video game development companies would be interested in programming titles in it, this is one of the reasons why you can find old titles like Skyrim or The Witcher III for this console, having the possibility to play them in a portable way.

But not everything has been rosy for this console, thanks to the use that users have been able to establish several defects that should be taken into account, for example, the Joy-Con presents a problem after months of use, this problem is called Drifting and is that the main base of the joystick wears causing the character to move alone.

Nintendo has not yet released any updates on its Joy-Con, one of the solutions it offers is immediate exchange or warranty repair, however, there are countries where this is virtually impossible to do, having the need to buy a pair of Joy-Con again.

After 3 years, the Nintendo Switch has more than 2100 titles, among which we can find exclusive games, relaunches of the Wii U and developed by third parties, this suggests that approximately 700 games are launched per year, a very good figure for those who plan to buy a Switch.

In September 2019 they launched a smaller version of the console, this was called Switch Lite, with a smaller and less heavy design, developed with portability in mind, that is, it could no longer be connected to the TV, for this reason its price is much lower than the main version.

The Nintendo Switch still has a long way to go, however, one thing is clear, it is and will be a success for Nintendo, considering that to date they have sold more than 55 million units, leaving it several years old. We just have to wait and see what surprises the game developers will come up with in the future for this console.
