98DEMAKE and the art of turning new into old

Lately, remakes have been quite popular, many videogames from a past era have had their reinvention with new graphics and even new mechanics. Games like Final Fantasy VII, Resident Evil or Crash Bandicoot, have had their own remakes where impressively they have had incredible improvements in their graphic aspect, character design and even in their musicalization. The videogame industry knows very well that nostalgia is a pretty powerful business, so bringing back old videogame classics with a "face-lift" will bring them quite big incomes, besides also pleasing many people around the world, because many of us want to see new favorite childhood games with current graphics. Although this doesn't mean that I prefer current graphics, there are many video games that even though they have an "old fashioned" graphic style, that style is what characterizes them and what makes them have that retro style that I like so much, however, there are other video games that really do deserve a graphic improvement.

However, what I want to talk about today is the opposite of what the word "remake" means, because if remake is to improve something, in the case of videogames, to improve their graphic style to a more modern one, the demake is the opposite, that is, to take a videogame with relatively modern graphics, to a many older ones, either polygonal graphics as you could see in many games of the old but beloved PlayStation 1, graphics in 8bits or 16bits. Always keeping the charisma that so much characterized that style of graphics.

A long time ago I discovered this YouTube channel dedicated to this kind of "art", and in its channel he has uploaded a lot of current or not so current games and applied his "demake" style to them.
