Civilization VI finally lets us see Ethiopia, its next Frontier Pass civilization
After coming on strong with Colombia and the Mayas and the first free patch, the developers of 'Civilization VI' finally let us see how Ethiopia will work and the skills of its leader: Menelik II.
This civilization will arrive on July 23rd for all platforms (PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC) and will be the second of six DLC packs to arrive with the Frontier Pass season. It includes this new civilization, two new leaders, and a new game mode: the Secret Societies.
On this occasion, the company leaves us a video explaining the benefits that we will be able to exploit with the new civilization. This, in short, will focus on the generation of Faith, on the one hand, and on its council of ministers, which will also make it possible to generate more science and culture.
Taking advantage of the hills
Ethiopia is a civilization that will do well to be near hills. That's because it has several unique improvements that allow it to take advantage of them.
For one thing, all cities get extra faith for the resources it generates. In addition, trade routes initiated in resource-rich cities give even more bonuses. This Faith is also important because, if a city is established on a hill, it will receive a Culture and Science bonus according to the Faith it generates.
Combat units also get benefits for fighting on hills. To be exact, they are stronger in that terrain and their exclusive unit, Oromo Cavalry, ignores movement penalties for this type of geographic feature.
Finally, Ethiopia's special building is the Carved Rock Church. This box upgrade can only be located on hills or volcanic soil, but cannot be adjacent to another Carved Rock Church. The benefit of this improvement is faith, of course, but it gives additional faith for each adjacent hill or mountain.
Among the things we can do with this Faith, we will find that archaeological museums and archaeologists themselves can be bought with Faith. So you know where the shots will go with this civilization.
