Standing at the Window (Freewrite Challenge)

I refused standing at the window, that I may fall down, rather sit down on the chair as I watch the views outside. What I see is different from what I used to see, when there aren't that much homes around. I remember a lot of plants and trees, but the ground turned into a concrete, with houses or buildings around.

There I realized the sentiments of Joni Mitchell on her song "Big Yellow Taxi". The once beautiful scene has turned into parking lot. It may not really about parking lots entirely, but there's a sense of sadness seeing how the environment is compromised. There goes economic progress but there'll always be disregarded for its sake.

What happened to tourists destinations? Boracay Island here in the Philippines was considered as a paradise island. Beautiful white sandy beach, a perfect place to visit. The influx of visitors coming in caused the rise of buildings with many of them has no permits. Sewages are improperly done, and some of the sea waters became polluted. Rehabilitation was done, and it's still ongoing to bring back the island's beauty though.

There are other natural tourist destinations which are not developed well, and some residents preferred that way to preserve the natural beauty of their place.
