God created nature for all animals to live peacefully, freely, happily, and in a more secure life. As well, in the very recent time, we come across many incidents and accidents with regard to animals. Due to this fact, the animal population of the entire globe is diminishing rapidly. If we take a few reasons as to why this is happening we humans are the main reason behind it. As humans cause the environment so much damage, we thereby either directly or indirectly harm all sorts of animals. In Srilanka, it is mainly the elephants who get harmed most of the time. We are the ones who use the elephants to help increase tourism by introducing elephant rides, in pageants, we captivate them for zoos, we use parts of their bodies for ornaments such as skin, tusks and also we invade their habitats. We don’t even realize what huge damage we are causing to all these animals.

Animals belong in the wild, not in between four iron bars. They can’t even move or breathe properly as because they are provided with much less space. How can we even think of comparing an open environment to a metal cell? We never realize that our pleasures are their pain. Animals are not for entertainment. They have the freedom to live a safe, carefree life. They have a voice that is poorly understood by self-centered people.

In the very recent past, there was news that elephants in garbage dumps around Sri Lanka have sadly died together with many cows and other domestic animals due to the consumption of polythene. To prevent such incidents we shouldn’t clear forests and turn them into cement jungles, there should be fewer zoos and more safari parks. This way we are entertained as well as the animals are not deprived of their freedom.

If God saves the freedom to live, who are we to deprive them of their right? When man itself is a creation of God we shouldn’t even dare to harm animals and the environment. How would we feel if we were stuck between four walls? Everyone is happy seeing animals, but no one is aware of animal’s unsaid words and tears. We have no right to harm Mother Nature's Children. We should all cultivate this thought in our minds and help animals also to love with us happily!
