Who is a warrior?
A person engaged or experienced in warfare broadly or a person engaged in some struggle or conflict for a cause. This said a warrior can be a war hero, an activist, your dad, your mom, a singer. A warrior can be anyone but what makes a true warrior is how you are perceived in the hearts of others, the impact you’ve placed, the people you’ve saved. Based on a great service to my country though he is late now his name still lives on he was an artist, a father, an african, a rebel who stood his ground despite the consequences, a talented man , a lyricist, a legend. My warrior is “FELA KUTI” #nigeria

Born in Nigeria ,abeokuta on 15th october 1938 and passed on 2nd august 1997 at the age of 58. This man of many stories was one of the greatest musician africa ever produced and a pioneer of the popular afro beat music tradition today. He was a singer, an instrumentalist and an activist too born from a home if honors. He’s music still leaves today passing on messages rebelling against the forced tradition on Africans and the corruption in africa, all he ever did was try take us back to our roots before the english tea and renaissance arts and colonial masters. How else could he take this on but to use his music.

His mother, Chief Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti, was a feministactivist in the anti-colonial movement; his father, Reverend Israel Oludotun Ransome-Kuti, an Anglican minister and school principal, was the first president of the Nigeria Union of Teachers. His brothers Beko Ransome-Kuti and Olikoye Ransome-Kuti, both medical doctors, were well known in Nigeria. Fela is a first cousin to the Nigerian writer and Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka, the first black African to win the Nobel Prize for Literature.
Fela attended Abeokuta Grammar School. Later he was sent to London in 1958 to study medicine, but decided to study music instead at the Trinity College of Music, the trumpet being his preferred instrument. His parents were unaware of this though and not in support as felas methods were quite unorthodox to them despite the fact that he came from a christian home. He felt his parents had been too influenced by the white men

Fela spent half of his career either singing , smoking cannabis or in jail for rebelling against a corrupt politician up to the extend it even led to the death of his mother. Luckily the immortal father of afro haven’t been forgotten till date as many musicians now follow his trail blazing footsteps back to our roots. He left behind some kids who are doing quite well for themselves in the industry. As a music mogul, I respect his efforts towards restoring Africa to what it used to be, his efforts to correct the corrupt nation and his craft filled with wise words still living today. Fela may not be here with us anymore but Fela never died!
