Monthly Contest | Steemit ශ්‍රී ලංකා | @nishadi88 | My Warrior is ... ! – Session 2 | Emperor Dharmasoka 👑steemCreated with Sketch.

Hello friends,

I hope you all are doing well. This is my first post for the second week. I think this contest organized by @besticofinder is an interesting one. Monthly Contest: by Steemit ශ්‍රී ලංකා : My Warrior is ... ! – Session 2

Who is my warrior.....?

My warrior is Emperor Dharmasoka. I am going to talk about him today. King Dharmasoka can be introduced as one of the great kings who ruled in India at that time. King Dharmashoka Mawurya was the son of King Bindusara and Queen Dharma of the Maurya dynasty.

Emperor King Dharmasoka and the Asoka Pillar, a marvelous creation made by him.

His life story is brief

His ancestors were Chandragupta Maurya. From the time of King Chandragupta's reign, a Brahmin named Chanakya helped them by giving them the necessary royal advice. King Dharmasoka's birth name was Asoka. According to history, Prince Ashoka became king by killing ninety nine brothers. King Ashoka somehow wanted to conquer other kingdoms as well.

His hope was finally fulfilled after all the kingdoms of India surrendered to Magadha. Later India became a single empire. King Ashoka was the one who won all the wars. He became Emperor Asoka because he ruled the whole of India under a single kingdom.

King Ashoka was nicknamed Chandrasoka because he pursued a long policy of warfare in the early days. He was lunar in the literal sense of the word. No matter how cruel a king he was, in the end he was disappointed with his life. That was because of the last war he waged, the Kalinga War.

A scene from the Kalinga war.

Many people were killed in the Kalinga war. King Ashoka was disappointed to see it. After spending time in such frustration, he came to know about Buddhism through Nigrodha Podi Thero. King Asoka was impressed with Buddhism by hearing his sermons and embraced Buddhism. From then on he abandoned the Digvijaya policy and followed the Dharmavijaya policy. Until then he was known as Chandrasoka and became known as Dharmasoka.

Why I like him.....?

King Dharmasoka realized that there was no point in killing people and living in war. From then on, he dedicated his life to Buddhism. His son Mahinda and daughter Sangamitta were also ordained in the Buddha Sasana. Our country Sri Lanka also received Buddhism because of King Dharmasoka.

Arahant Mahinda, the son of King Dharmasoka, introduced Buddhism to our country. From then on the people including the king in our country also embraced Buddhism. King Dharmasoka has sent missions from India to nine countries, including Sri Lanka.

The arrival of Arahant Mahinda and his entourage in Sri Lanka and the conversion of King Devanampiyatissa, then King of Sri Lanka, to Buddhism.

History also states that King Dharmasoka built thousands of temples. I am pleased to speak of King Dharmasoka who has done such a great service. He is indeed a great king. I pay my respects to him.

Finally, I would like to invite @inudi, @steemflower, @hasini, @krishna94, @prasadi, @sridhara, @mohammadfaisal participate to this contest.

Thanks for reading.

Mucha suerte!!

I liked the approach of the story, because many times it is necessary to rectify and do things differently to get different results. It is brave to rectify and good that he was able to bring peace to his land through Buddhism.
Have a nice day
