The Strikers will no doubt be on a high after their victory against table-topping Melbourne Stars, the second time that they have beaten the favourites this year. It takes them to 2nd place, 5 points behind the Stars with a game in hand. While it's not impossible that they could yet nab top spot from the long-time leaders, it's more realistic that they look to finish 2nd and guarantee themselves an easier passage to the finals.

The balance the Strikers have in their side now that all the big-name players are back in is very impressive and their win yesterday where they recovered from a slow start shows that they are more than just an all or nothing side and even when it looks like a game might not be going their way they find a means to put a competitive total on the board. That kind of experience and class in the batting line-up is then supported by an excellent group of bowlers. The temptation is to lavish all the praise on Rashid Khan and while he is a very potent weapon for the Strikers it is the discipline of the likes of Siddle and Nesser in the first 6 overs that means that by the time the little legspinner comes on the opposition are usually behind the game and needing to take risks against a guy who can turn it both ways.

The Perth Scorchers meanwhile have scored big runs this season particularly at home but they struggled in their back to back games against the Stars who also boast an accomplished bowling line-up suggesting that they might be nothing more than flat-track bullies. Still, the likes of Inglis, Livingstone and Marsh have all shown once they get going they are hard to stop!
