Perhaps you have come across this insect so striking for its spots and elegance; It is commonly known as a velvet ant for its morphology, but it really is a very particular wasp whose appearance varies greatly. These wasps have villi of showy colors that serve to warn their predators that they have a very painful venom, the velvet wasp is classified in the Mutillidae family and in the apocrita order, they lack wings and they are very fast.

They are characterized by the fact that the females are ectoparasitoids of other insects and when they lay their eggs they do so close to beetle larvae, butterflies, bees and even other wasps, which can play the role of host for when the eggs hatch, the wasps enter into the bodies and feed on them until they develop enough to be independent.
