While 2021 was the largest year on record for crypto hacks, 2022 could "probably" break the record "at this rate," according to Chainalysis.

Blockchain analytics firm Chainalysis has labelled October 2022 as "the largest month in the largest year for hacking activity" with the total value hacked for the month nearly reaching $718 million.

Despite not being more than half the month, Chainalysis said that 11 different hacks in decentralized finance protocols (Defi) had seen hundreds of millions exploited.
