The CEO of Coinbase will sell 2% of his stake to fund scientific research.

Armstrong Coinbase said on Saturday that he intends to sell 2% of his Coinbase stock in 2023 to fund science and technology development.

According to Coinbase's 2022 proxy papers, Brian Armstrong owns 16% of the firm and controls around 59% of the voting power.

Armstrong announced this decision in a tweet on Saturday, stating that he is selling a portion of his Coinbase ownership to fund the firm he co-founded.

Furthermore, Armstrong stated that he believes in Coinbase and is dedicated to expanding the bitcoin exchange company and promoting its purpose.

"To be clear, I expect to be CEO of Coinbase for a very long time, and I remain extremely enthusiastic on crypto and Coinbase."
